Panthers Coming Off Blowout Loss
Carolina is coming off a 40-9 blowout loss at home to the Buffalo Bills. In the loss, backup quarterback Andy Dalton got the start as he went 16-of-24 for 175 yards and an interception, while Rico Dowdle led the way as he rushed for 54 yards. Dowdle will now be the feature back going forward, and Chuba Hubbard will be the backup. Starting quarterback Bryce Young was out with an ankle injury, but is expected to return this week. Young has thrown for 184 yards per game with 11 touchdowns and five picks. When Young was healthy, the Panthers were able to beat Miami (27-24), Dallas (30-27) and the NY Jets (13-6) before losing to the Bills last week.
The Panthers are averaging 19.25 points per game, while the offense is averaging 197.62 passing yards a game and 136.87 rushing yards. Defensively, Carolina is allowing 24 points per game, while opponents are averaging 111.62 rushing yards per game and 209.5 passing yards per game. Dowdle has rushed for 605 yards and 5.7 yards per carry to lead Carolina.
Carolina will likely have Bryce Young back under center as Dalton is now dealing with an injury. Right guard Brady Christensen (Achilles) was injured against Buffalo and is out for the year. Center Cade Mays (ankle/knee) is out, and RT Taylor Moton (knee) is questionable.

Packers Atop NFC North
Green Bay is coming off a blowout win on the road over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. The Packers were led by Jordan Love, who threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 20 straight passes in one stretch to break a franchise record. Tucker Kraft led the way with seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Love is having a great first half, completing 70.9% of his passes for 1,798 yards with 13 TDs and two picks. RB Josh Jacobs leads the Packers with 447 yards rushing and nine TDs.
The Packers have been solid defensively as Green Bay is allowing 21.42 points per game, while opponents are averaging just 229 passing yards per game and 78.85 rushing yards per game. Offensively, Green Bay is averaging 27.57 points per game, while averaging 256.85 passing yards per game and 114.14 rushing yards per game.
Green Bay will be without WR Jayden Reed while LB Quay Walker, WR Christian Watson, and WR Dontavion Wicks are questionable. Josh Jacobs is also dealing with a calf injury, but is expected to play.
Panthers vs. Packers pick
Spread pick for Panthers vs. Packers
- Panthers +13.5 -115 (4 units)
Green Bay is a massive favorite on Sunday and rightfully so, but I do like the Panthers to cover the spread. Carolina is expected to get Bryce Young back, which will help the offense out a ton, as Andy Dalton was abysmal against the Bills, while Green Bay's defense still gives up chunk plays through the air. With Young managing the game, Carolina had won three straight before the Bills' game, so this is an improved team this season. The Panthers' defense is solid against the pass and run. The Packers also have some key offensive players dealing with injuries, which will hinder their offense and help Carolina keep this game close, as Green Bay will likely win by 10 points.
Over/Under pick for Panthers vs. Packers
- Over 44.5 -105 (4 units)
The over is also a good spot as both teams' defenses have some question marks, especially Carolina, as points should be plenty. Meanwhile, Young being back should also help Carolina's offense tenfold, which struggled against the Bills last week. I like this game to be like 31-20 for Green Bay and the over to cash. This season, Green Bay is 4-3 in hitting the over while Carolina is 5-3, so expect those trends to continue.
