Chicago Bears vs. Washington Commanders, Picks and Predictions, Monday, October 13, 2025
Use Code SSWC The Chicago Bears are traveling to Northwest Stadium in Prince George’s County, Maryland, for their week six matchup against the Commanders; keep reading for our Bears versus Commanders prediction. Chicago is fourth in the NFC North with a record of 2-2. Washington is second in the NFC East with a record of 3-2. The Chicago Bears had a 0-1 record against the Commanders in 2024. Last season, Washington shocked the Bears on a Hail Mary (or Fail Mary) pass from Jayden Daniels to Noah Brown. Bears corner Tyrique Stevenson decided to taunt Washington fans after the snap and was late to the action. The Bears went from winning three straight to losing 10 straight and cleaning house on the coaching staff. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. EDT. Bears Look To Continue Momentum
Chicago is coming off a bye week last week and will be looking to continue their success from their previous game before their break. The Bears, a week before their bye week, faced off against the Raiders and came out on top with a final score of 25-24. They won despite generating just 271 yards of offense.
The Bears have been denying their opposition yards this season, ranking tenth overall in yards allowed. However, this has not been enough to stop teams from scoring as their run defense remains an issue. Chicago is 23rd in rushing yards allowed this season and is last in rushing yards allowed per carry at 6.1. To battle their poor run defense, the Bears have developed their pass defense, ranking fourth overall in passing yards allowed. Despite their best efforts, the Bears are 19th in points allowed this season.
Chicago has attempted to counterbalance their poor defense with more offensive output, but this has not turned out well either. Chicago is 24th in scoring this season due to their lack of generating yards. The Bears are 30th in rushing yards and 28th in passing yards. With the Bears sitting second to last in first downs, it is no wonder as to the Bears have been unable to generate points consistently on their drives. Much of their offense has relied on quarterback Caleb Williams, as he averages 231.8 passing yards per game and has eight touchdowns so far in his four games played.

Commanders Aiming For The Top
Washington is coming off of a win last week against the Chargers with a final score of 27-10. This would be the first win of the season for the Commanders on the road as QB Jayden Daniels returned to action after sitting out two games with a knee injury. He passed for 231 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers.
With the Eagles losing on Thursday, the Commanders are now poised to tie them for the top of the division. The Commanders will be heavily motivated to strike for the top of the division with a win on Sunday over the Bears.
The Commanders’ offense has been the highlight of the team, ranking ninth overall in scoring and sitting 13th in total yards this season. Washington leads the league in rushing yards and rushing yards per carry at 5.9. Their pass game has not been as consistent, ranking 21st in passing yards. Their run game is led by their rookie running back, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who leads the team in rushing yards at 283 on the season and averages 56.6 yards per game. Croskey-Merritt is sporting an impressive yards per carry average of 6.6 and continues to impress the rest of the league with his rookie season.
Washington’s defense is nothing impressive as they rank 25th in total yards allowed. However, while they are allowing a lot of yards, they are not allowing as many points as you would think, only ranking 12th in points allowed. This is mostly due to their ability to take time away from their opposition with their run game offense. This, in combination with their run defense that seems reliable, ranking 10th in yards per carry, averaged at 4.0.

Bears vs. Commanders Picks and Predictions
Spread Pick for Bears vs. Commanders
- Commanders -4.5 (-108 ) ( 5 units)
The Commanders had a 6-2 record against the spread as favorites at home in 2024. The Bears have a 2-7 record in their last 9 games versus the Commanders, dating back to 2007. The Bears have relied on their defense to grab wins as their offense has struggled to put up points. However, the largest weakness to the Bears’ defense is their run defense, something the Commanders have excelled in this season. I have no doubt that the Commanders will control the clock and pace of this game thanks to their run game and leave little options for the Bears to generate many points. Washington also has their sites as the top of their division and with a win can tie the Eagles for the top of the NFC East. This game is too important for the Commanders to lose and they will not risk keeping it close.
Over/Under Pick for Bears versus Commanders
- Over 49.5 (-115) (4 units)
The Commanders had an over/under record of 5-3 as favorites at home in 2024. The Bears have an over/under record of 5-2 in their last seven games versus the Commanders since 2013. While the Commanders do seem to have a more reliable defense than the Bears, I do not have faith in them completely stopping the Bears from generating the few points needed to help with this over. Washington is going to dominate in this game and nearly alone could take us over the total. Chicago is going to struggle stopping the Commanders’ run game and as a result we should see multiple drives from Washington ending in scoring. As a result I expect a high scoring, albeit one sided game.
