Cincinnati Bengals vs Green Bay Packers Pick and Prediction October 12th, 2025
Use Code SSWC The Packers will look to get their first win in over a month as they host the Bengals on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EST in Lambeau Field. Check out our Cincinnati Bengals vs Green Bay Packers pick and prediction here!
Cincinnati has been a disaster since Joe Burrow went down, and yet they are currently 2nd in the AFC North with a 2-3 record. They are hoping to avoid a three-game losing streak with a win here. Meanwhile, the Packers have gone on a bye, tied with the Cowboys, and lost to the Browns in their last three weeks. They are 2-1-1 overall, but they need to stack some wins together if they are to make the division race competitive with the Lions. In one of the biggest point spreads I have seen in the NFL, the Packers are favored by 15 points while the total is set at 45 points. Can the Bengals make this game competitive or even pull off an upset like Cleveland did against Green Bay?

Bengals are Bad
While the score did not entirely reflect it, the Bengals were dominated by the Detroit Lions last week, losing by a score of 37-24. Jake Browning went 26/40 for 251 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. Unfortunately, Browning was also the leading rusher with 31 yards. Ja'Marr Chase had a solid day as the #1 receiver on the team with six catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns, but the majority of that came in garbage time. Demetrius Knight Jr. had four tackles and four tackle assists while Trey Hendrickson had a pair of sacks in the effort.

Jake Browning has been the backup for Joe Burrow at QB for the Bengals, and in 2025, he has not performed up to expectations with a 64.5% completion percentage for 757 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions. As such, Cincinnati has turned to the trade market and acquired Joe Flacco from Cleveland. Flacco has a 58.1% completion percentage for 815 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. This is clearly a desperate attempt from Cincinnati to salvage a pathetic season, but they should have gotten Jameis Winston from the Giants (in my opinion). Chase Brown is Cincinnati's leading rusher with 160 yards on 65 carries, and he has one of the two rushing touchdowns for the Bengals. As expected, Ja'Marr Chase is the primary wideout with 374 yards and 32 receptions. He also has a team-high three TD receptions. As a whole, Cincinnati ranks dead last in yards per game, 30th in passing, last in rushing, and 29th in points per game with an even 17. It will be interesting to see if Flacco can provide a small light on Cincinnati's season.
On defense, Knight Jr. leads the squad in total tackles with 39, but Jordan Battle is right behind him with 38 and Dax Hill is tied with Knight Jr. for the most solo tackles with 23. Hendrickson is one of the few players that casual NFL fans can name on the defensive side of the ball for the Bengals, and he leads the team with four sacks. DJ Turner II has the most passes defended with six and Jordan Battle has a pair of picks to his name. Cincinnati's defense was already pre-determined to be a liability before the season started, and they are ranked 30th in yards against, 29th against the pass, 24th against the rush, and 30th in points against per game with an average of 31.2. Clearly, both sides of the ball need to improve if this team is to remain somewhat afloat by the time Burrow gets back. Aside from Burrow, eight players, including Chase, are on the injury report. However, Chase was a full participant in practice.
Packers Need a Push
Green Bay had a bye week during week five of the NFL season, but they tied with the Dallas Cowboys in their most recent contest by a score of 40-40. Jordan Love went 31/43 for 337 yards and three touchdowns, but that does not include a costly turnover right before half in which he gave up a fumble deep in his own territory with little time left in the half. Josh Jacobs was the leader in the ground game with 86 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries and he also led the receiving core with 71 yards. Romeo Doubs had the most receptions with six and three TD receptions. Quay Walker had six tackles and five tackle assists on the defensive side, and Micah Parsons had the lone sack on the day for Green Bay.
Jordan Love remains a solid option going forward for Green Bay at the QB position despite his Brett Favre-level mistakes, completing 69.4% of his passes for 1000 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception. Jacobs is the leading rusher with 266 yards on 80 carries and four rushing touchdowns. With his tremendous week two, TE Tucker Kraft still leads the team with 225 yards and 16 receptions. After their game against the Cowboys, Doubs has overtaken Kraft with a team-high four TD receptions. The Packers currently rank 14th in yards per game, 11th in passing, 18th on the ground, and 9th in scoring with an average of 26 points per game. All the Packers need to do is stay consistent and limit turnovers. If they do that, a playoff spot is all but certain.
The Packers got a huge upgrade on defense right before the season started with Micah Parsons, and it seems that the Packers have one of the best defenses in the NFL on paper. Walker has the most tackles with 42, and that includes 22 solo tackles. Edgerrin Cooper is tied with Walker for the most solo tackles with 22 as well. Rashan Gary has the team lead in sacks with 4.5 and Keisean Nixon has the most passes defended with seven. Evan Williams and Xavier McKinney are the only ones for Green Bay to have an interception on the season. Overall, Green Bay is 4th in yards against per game, 11th in yards against through the air, 2nd in yards against on the ground, and 11th in scoring defense with 21 points per game. Green Bay has been waiting for nearly two weeks to enact its revenge after their humiliating performance against the Cowboys, and they will have the perfect opportunity to do so against a weak Cincinnati offense. Fourteen players are currently listed on the injury report for the Packers, including Love and kicker Brandon McManus. The former was a full participant at practice while the latter was limited.
Bengals vs Packers Pick
Spread Pick for Bengals vs Packers
- Bengals +15 (4 units)
I get it. It's the perfect opportunity for the Packers to cover here, as they are coming off a bye week and they are at home with a desire to destroy their next opponent. However, I have confidence that the Bengals reached rock bottom against the Broncos and are back on the rise. Joe Flacco beat the Packers a few weeks ago as a member of the Browns and he should be able to make this game competitive again. The Packers have shown their weaknesses in their defense, and they need to fix up their turnovers before I give them more confidence. I have very little doubt the Packers will win here. However, garbage time comes into effect when going against the spread. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins will get targeted in this game and they should be able to make a few plays that keep this game relatively close. A garbage time TD isn't out of the question to have the Bengals cover here.
Over/Under Pick for Bengals vs Packers
- Over 45 (4 units)
Green Bay should be able to do whatever they want against a porous Cincinnati defense. After their game against the Cowboys, Green Bay will want to make sure they will do enough on offense to secure a desperately needed win. I'd be surprised if the Packers score less than 30 points in this one, as the Bengals have given up an average of 35 points per game to their opponents across their last four games. Cincinnati should score at least 14 points here, as Flacco has previous experience against the Packers and his QB style is more about getting the ball out quickly compared to Browning, who held the ball a bit too much. Both teams have something to prove in this one, and Cincinnati has hit the over in three of their last four games.
