Sanders gets his turn to start
The Browns are heading to Las Vegas after a loss last week to the Ravens, with a final score of 23-16 at home as a 7.5-point dog. Starting QB Dillon Gabriel (head) was injured and was replaced by rookie Shedeur Sanders, who struggled (4-of-16, 1 INT). This is the third loss in a row for the Browns and their fourth loss in their last five games. Cleveland is far from going to the playoffs this season as they continue to struggle to grab wins. The defense was outstanding, especially Myles Garrett, who recorded four of their five sacks. The Browns also picked off Lamar Jackson twice.
Cleveland this season sits at the bottom of the league in points, ranking 29th overall and sits second to last in yards. The lack of offense generated by the team has severely hurt their chances of winning games, as they lack any consistency. Their lack of consistency has stemmed from their uncertainty at the quarterback position. With Gabriel out due to a concussion, Sanders will have a chance to take over this week and will be the third starting quarterback for the Browns with Joe Flacco and Gabriel preceding Sanders. Gabriel is averaging 117.1 yards per game and has seven touchdowns and two interceptions across his eight games played so he can't do much worse.
On defense, the Browns have been doing a great job, sitting 14th in points allowed and allowing the least amount of yards in the NFL. The Browns' true claim to fame is their pass rush, which leads the league in passing yards allowed and is fifth in sacks. Leading the defense is Garrett, who has 15 sacks across his ten games played.

Raiders Fall Short On Offense
Las Vegas is hosting the Browns after another loss last week to the Cowboys, with a final score of 33-16 on Monday night. This is the fourth loss in a row for the Raiders as they, much like the Browns, look to be out of playoff contention. The Raiders have only two home games left this season and will be looking to make the most of the remainder of their season.
Much like the Browns, the Raiders have also struggled on offense, ranking fourth-to-last in scoring and yards. We have not seen much reliability in the quarterback position from the Raiders’ either, with Geno Smith only averaging 208.2 yards per game across his ten games this season. The run game has also been non-existent this season, with the Raiders sitting fourth to last in rushing yards and third to last in yards per carry at 3.6. Rookie Ashton Jeanty has averaged just 3.7 yards per carry with 554 yards and four TDs. TE Brock Bowers (39 catches for 455yds, 3TDs) and WR Tre Tucker (38 for 502 yds) are the top targets in the passing game.
Unlike the Browns, the Raiders are also having difficulties on defense, sitting 23rd in points allowed this season. The Raiders are simply allowing too many plays to their opposition, with their offense giving the ball back to the other team. This is tiring out the defense and has not allowed their defense to rest before having to go back out on the field and face off against an offense that is likely going to be on their heels.

- Laulu DL Questionable - Ribs
- O'Connell backup QB Questionable-wrist.
Browns vs Raiders Picks and Predictions
Spread Pick for Browns vs Raiders
- Raiders -3.5 (-118) (3 units)
The Browns have a 0-4 record against the spread as underdogs on the road this season. With Sanders making his first start, that's a tough task with a shaky offensive line, which will be even worse if Cam Robinson doesn't play. The Raiders have the film and will blitz early and often, just as Baltimore did last week. Expect the Browns to once again struggle offensively, while putting up a fight on defense. Vegas has enough weapons on offense, led by TE Brock Bowers and RB Ashton Jeanty, to be able to deal with Garrett and company. That should allow the Raiders to grab the points needed to cover.
Over/Under Pick for Browns versus Raiders
- Under 36.5 (-118) ( 4 units)
The Browns have an over/under record of 3-7 in their last ten games against the Raiders. I am not expecting much from either offense in this matchup as both teams tend to rely more on their defenses for any chance of winning. With the injuries to the Browns’ offense, I do not have much faith in Cleveland helping generate the points needed for us to go over the total. I am siding with the under.
