Broncos Continue Win Streak

The Broncos are heading to Houston after another win last week against the Cowboys with a final score of 44-24. Denver would now be on a five-game win streak and heading on the road for their fifth game of this season, where they have a record of 2-2.

This season, the Broncos are dominating on offense as they rank seventh overall in points and fifth in yards. What has been impressive from the Broncos has been their combination of reliable running and consistent passing. The Broncos are third in rushing yards this season thanks to the efforts of running back J.K. Dobbins, who leads the team in rushing yards with 634 yards and has averaged 79.3 yards per game. However, quarterback Bo Nix has had a great season and has driven this offense to one of the top offenses in the league. Nix is averaging 225.4 passing yards per game and has 15 touchdowns across his eight games played. Denver has faced off against weaker defenses in recent games and will be tested against the Houston defense on Sunday.

One issue will be at cornerback with Patrick Surtain II (pectoral), who will be out for this game.

  • WR Marvin Mims Jr. (concussion) is ?

Texans Relying On Defense

The Texans are coming off a win last week over the 49ers with a final score of 26-15. This was the third win for the Texans in their last four games. Houston will be looking to grab some important wins coming up as they remain in the middle of their division.

Houston is one of the top defenses this season as they lead the league in points (103) and yards allowed (1,868). The Texans have done a great job in stopping their opposition from scoring on their drives, and this has put the Texans at the top of the league in first downs allowed this season. Defensive Lineman Will Anderson Jr. has been one of the key pieces of this Houston defense as he leads the team in sacks with five in his seven games played.

While their defense has thrived, their offense has struggled. Houston is 25th in both points and yards. Houston has struggled with the run game, only ranking 20th in rushing yards and has relied more on their pass game to generate any sort of offense. Leading their offense is quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has averaged 231.9 yards per game and has 11 touchdowns across his seven games played.

Injuries:

  • TE Dalton Schultz (knee/shoulder) is ?
  • WR Braxton Berrios (chest) is ?

Broncos versus Texans Picks and Prediction

Money Line Pick for Broncos vs. Texans

  • Texans Money Line ( -124) (4 units)Β

The Broncos were 2-5 as underdogs on the road in 2024. The Texans had a record of 5-1 as favorites at home in 2024. This is going to be the first challenge of the year for the Broncos as they have not faced a top defense yet this season, with the closest being the Colts, who rank tenth in points allowed. Denver will now be facing the leading team in both points and yards allowed and will likely struggle to generate their normal points they are used to. Houston will be able to take advantage of this and grab a much-needed win as they attempt to take advantage of turnovers and the clock to win this game.

Over/Under Pick for Broncos versus Texans

  • Under 40.5 (-105) (4 units)Β

The Texans have an over/under record of 2-5 this season. The Broncos have an over/under record of 3-7 in their last ten games versus the Texans, dating back to 2004. The Broncos are facing off against their most difficult challenge on offense this season, which is the Houston defense. This is going to be a defensive game and as a result, we should expect a lower-scoring game. Houston has been able to stop drives consistently but their offense itself has not been the strongest. With unreliability in both offenses in this game, I have to side with the under.
