Eagles vs. Cowboys Pick, Odds and Prediction

We have an old NFC East rivalry on Sunday afternoon, highlighted by this Eagles vs. Cowboys prediction. Philadelphia (8-2) sits in first place in the NFC East, while the Cowboys are 4-5-1 and in the place in the NFC. These two old rivals will meet on Sunday at 4:25pmET from "Jerry's World"  at A&T Stadium. These teams met on Sept. 4, with the Eagles winning 24-20 as an 8-point favorite. They are a 3.5-point favorite on the road and the total is currently 47.5. Check out more NFL winners at Stat Salt, along with other big games in the major sports.

Eagles win four straight games the old-fashioned way

A.J. Brown may not be thrilled, but the Eagles have won four straight, including two where they combined for just 26 points to beat the Packers (10-7) and Lions (16-9) to not only lead the division, but tied with the LA Rams for best record in the NFC.  Right now, with some injuries on the offensive line and Jalen Hurts managing the game, the Eagles are winning with the old-fashioned formula of defense and running the football. Their defense was phenomenal last Sunday night against Detroit, holding the Lions to just 74 yards rushing and 13 first downs. Offensively, it was an ugly story once again for Philadelphia, which recorded just 124 passing yards and 272 overall yards. QB Jalen Hurts managed the game with Philly's only TD, 31 yards rushing and 135 yards passing (14 of 28).

The Eagles survived a rare two-game losing streak, losing at home to Denver on Oct. 5 (21-17) and to the rival NY Giants (34-17), before winning four straight, which included a 38-20 revenge game over their NFC East rival on Oct. 26. Vic Fangio has done wonders with a defense that has best defensive tackle duo in the game in Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.

Hurts is completing 66.9% of his passes for 1,995 yards with 16 TDs and just on epick. He also has 265 yards rushing and six TDs. Saquon Barkley is having a down season with 6652 yards rushing and four TDs (3.8ypc). DeVonta Smith leads in receiving with 49 catches for 665 yards and three TDs. The defense is led by Davis (34 tackles, 3 sacks) and Carter (23 tackles, 1 sack).

Key Injuries for Eagles:

  • C Cam Jurgens (concussion) is questionable.
  • OT Lane Johnson (Lisfranc sprain) is out 4-6 weeks.

Big game for Cowboys

Dallas has a chance to improve to .500 with a win here. The Cowboys broke a two-game losing streak by beating Las Vegas on Monday night, 33-16, on the road as a 3.5-point favorite. But when you look at their victories (Raiders, Commanders, Jets, Giants), their most impressive performance took place in a 40-40 tie on Sept. 28 against the Packers. A win over the Eagles would be huge in terms of playoff implications, along with confidence.

Dak Prescott threw for 268 yards and four TDs against the Raiders, but this was a melancholy win. After their loss to Arizona on Nov. 3, the Cowboys had a bye week. Two days later, DE Marshawn Kneeland was found dead at an apparent suicide at 24. In the loss to the Cardinals, Kneeland recovered a blocked punt in the end zone and scored a touchdown.

The Raiders' win was inspirational and led by Prescott, who is truly having a banner year. He's completing 69.9% of his passes for 2,587 yards, 21 TDs and six picks, while rushing for 117 yards. It also helps to have two elite receivers in CeeDee Lamb (40 catches for 557 yards) and George Pickens (58 for 908 yds, 7 TDs), along with a very reliable tight end in Jake Ferguson (60 for 400 yards, 7 TDs).

Defensively, Dallas has had problems, ranking 30th in total yards per game allowed (381.3ypg) and passing yards (249.9ypg).

Key Injuries for the Cowboys:

  • LG Tyler Smith (knee) is questionable
  • S Donovan Wilson (elbow/shoulder) is questionable
  • DE Jadeveon Clowney (shoulder/neck) is questionable. Has two sacks.
  • DE Dante Fowler (shoulder) is questionable
  • S Malik Hooker (toe) is questionable. Has 15 tackles.

Prediction and Pick for Eagles vs. Cowboys

Eagles vs. Cowboys Spread Pick

  • Dallas +3.5 (5 units)

Let's go back to the first game of the season. The Cowboys received two rushing touchdowns from Javonte Williams, but they lost the turnover battle (-1). They were right there and while you can slow Dallas down some, you can't completely stop them. Philly's offense is a mess because they aren't taking many risks and Hurts doesn't have the time to throw the ball downfield. He'll throw it in this game more because the Cowboys will slow down Barkley and the running game with Lane Johnson out on the O-line. On the road, Philly is averaging just 282 yards per game and 87.8 rushing yards.

Over/Under Pick for Eagles vs. Cowboys

  • Under 47.5 (4 units)

This is more about the Eagles' offense and defense than the Cowboys' explosive offense. Philadelphia has the type of defense to slow down a very powerful offense, while their own offense will struggle to score against a shaky defense. They are all about running the football but the offensive line is just not good enough right now to establish the run. They've gone under in two straight and three of the last four games against the Cowboys.
