Indianapolis will look to improve upon their surprisingly strong start to the season as they face the Rams on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. EST in SoFi Stadium. Check out our Indianapolis Colts vs Los Angeles Rams pick and prediction here!

The Colts have gotten off to a 3-0 start and a sizable lead in the AFC South, but this will arguably be their biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, the Rams are 2-1 to start the season and they are in a highly competitive NFC West division. Any win is a major boost and any loss is a major setback for a division title. The Rams are favored by 3.5 points while the total is set at an even 50 points. Can the Colts do the improbable and improve to 4-0?

Not many had faith in Daniel Jones to be this good as the starter for the Colts before the season began, but he is doing well with a 71.6% completion percentage. He has thrown for 816 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He has also rushed for three touchdowns. Jonathan Taylor is making his case as one of the best running backs in the NFL right now with 338 yards rushing on 60 carries, including three TD runs. Pittman Jr. and Tyler Warren have the most yards receiving with 193 each, but Pittman barely edges the other out in receptions. Pittman additionally has two of the three total touchdown passes. Overall, the Colts are 2nd in yards per game, 4th in passing, 3rd in rushing, and 3rd in points per game with an average of 34.3 points per game.

Indianapolis ranks 7th in yards against per game, 8th against the pass, and 7th against the run. They have given up an average of 18.7 points per game, good for 9th overall in the league. Ten players are listed on the injury report for the Colts, and only two are deemed questionable to play this game. On the defensive side, Nick Cross is the only player to eclipse 20 total tackles on the year thus far. Tyquan Lewis is the only player with multiple sacks on the year, while Cam Bynum leads the team in passes defended with three. and picks with two.

Rams Ready to Roll

The Rams had a victory in their grasp, but ultimately choked against the Eagles, losing by a score of 33-26. Matthew Stafford went 19/33 for 196 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while Kyren Williams led the ground game with 94 yards on 20 carries. Puka Nacua caught eleven passes for 112 yards while Davante Adams and Kyren Williams caught a TD pass each. Kamren Curl had a team-high six tackles and three tackle assists while four different players registered a sack in the effort.

Matthew Stafford continues to lead the Rams at the QB position despite the ever-increasing noise of Stafford retiring due to injury and age. So far this year, Stafford has completed 66.3% of his passes for five touchdowns and two interceptions. Kyren Williams leads the running backs with 226 yards on 55 carries and Puka Nacua is the leading receiver on the team with 333 yards on 29 catches. Davante Adams is the only one to have more than 100 yards on the season. Interestingly, he is tied with Davis Allen for the most TD receptions with two. As a whole, the Rams are 5th in yards per game, 10th in the air, 9th on the ground, and 11th in overall scoring with an average of 24.3 points per game.

On defense, Kam Curl has the most total tackles thus far with 26, including 19 solo tackles. Three others have 20+ total tackles while Byron Young has the most sacks on the season with four. Quentin Lake leads the secondary with five passes defended when nobody else has more than two. Cobie Durant has the lone pick for the Rams so far. Ten players including Nacua and Adams, are on the injured list, but it will be ideal to monitor their situations before kickoff on Sunday. As a unit, the Los Angeles defense has given up 20.3 points per game, ranking 14th in the NFL. They are 5th in total yards against per game, 6th against the pass, and 13th against the run.

Colts vs Rams Pick

Spread Pick for Colts vs Rams

  • Colts +3.5 (4 units)

Not many people expected the Colts to make their game against Denver competitive, let alone win the game. Yet here we are. I will continue to roll with the Colts until they give me a reason not to trust them. Daniel Jones has looked like a top 50% starter in the NFL this season and they have covered the spread in every game they've played thus far. Both offenses have been efficient enough to make the game close until the very end, so I feel more confident taking the Colts with plus points anyway.

Over/Under Pick for Colts vs. Rams

  • Under 50 (4 units)

This total seems a bit high considering that neither team is exactly well-known for their offensive capabilities. Indianapolis still has an undefeated record to hold, and the Rams need every win they can get to elevate themselves in the division. Both teams will try to establish the running game early as both teams have quality running backs. However, this will take up time, and they will look to eliminate as many drives as they can from their opponent. The game may expand towards the end, but I still have doubts in both teams scoring 25+.
