On Thursday Night Football, the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium at 8:15 pm ET. Prime Video will telecast the game. Jacksonville (5-2, 1st AFC South) beat Indianapolis 42-7 last Sunday, while Baltimore (4-4, 4th AFC North) dropped a 36-10 decision to the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens have lost three in a row, while the Jaguars have won four of the past five. See our free NFL picks here.
Jacksonville Jaguars Looking to Keep Winning
Jacksonville took care of Indianapolis on Sunday, winning 42-7 after a close loss to Houston in its previous game. The Jaguars are now 5-2, with four victories in their last five outings. Jacksonville has scored 28.0 points per game while allowing 15.9, and that defensive performance has helped the team build its lead in the AFC South.
Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 1,690 yards, 17 touchdowns and four interceptions, completing 65.7% of his passes. Parker Washington has 432 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Bhayshul Tuten leads the running game with 492 yards and three rushing scores, but his ankle injury could keep him out Thursday. Chris Rodriguez Jr. is also questionable with a hand injury.
Injuries: Eric Murray is out. Branson Combs, Jarrian Jones, Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten are questionable.
Baltimore Ravens Facing Serious Quarterback Problems
Baltimore couldn't get much going against Buffalo on Sunday, losing 36-10 and falling to 4-4. The Ravens have now dropped three straight after opening the season 4-1. Scoring has been a problem throughout that stretch, with Baltimore managing just 33 total points in those defeats. The Ravens average 22.4 points per game and give up 25.4. Now the Ravens must face a tough Jacksonville defense with a second- or third-string QB under center.
Lamar Jackson is out with a thumb injury that requires surgery, leaving Baltimore with serious concerns at quarterback. Tyler Huntley is questionable with a toe injury, and coach Jesse Minter has indicated he probably won't play Thursday. Joe Fagnano is also questionable because of an ankle injury. Jackson has thrown for 967 yards and six touchdowns, while Huntley has 727 passing yards and four scores. Derrick Henry has 632 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, and Zay Flowers leads Baltimore with 608 receiving yards.
Injuries: Lamar Jackson, Adam Randall, Tavius Robinson, Durham Smythe, Ethan Pocic, Jovaughn Gwyn, Bilhal Kone, Danny Pinter, Jahquez Robinson and Skylar Thompson are out. Tyler Huntley and Joe Fagnano are questionable.
Key To The Game
Baltimore's choices at quarterback will shape the offense, but the Ravens can't depend on passing alone. Henry needs room to run against a defense allowing just 15.9 points per game. Jacksonville also has questions at running back, though Lawrence's passing numbers provide a more stable starting point.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Baltimore Ravens Game Pick
- Jacksonville Jaguars -8.5
Baltimore's three consecutive losses have come with little offensive production, and the uncertainty at quarterback only adds to the challenge. Jacksonville has a healthier passing situation and enters off a 42-7 victory. Lawrence has thrown 17 touchdown passes against four interceptions, while Baltimore has scored just 33 points across its last three games. Henry could keep the Ravens competitive if the running game gets going, but Jacksonville's defense has been difficult to break down. Eight and a half points is a sizable margin on the road, yet the current form supports Jacksonville. I'll take the Jaguars to cover.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Baltimore Ravens Over/Under Pick
- Under 42.5
The total comes down to how much Baltimore can contribute. The Ravens scored 10 against Buffalo, 13 against Cincinnati and 10 against Cleveland, and their quarterback injuries leave plenty of uncertainty. Jacksonville's defense allows only 15.9 points per game, so another difficult night for Baltimore's offense is possible. The Jaguars can score quickly, as they showed against Indianapolis, but a comfortable lead could also bring more running plays and less urgency. Baltimore has allowed plenty of points, though its own scoring problems matter more to this pick. I'm taking the under 42.5.
