Key Matchups for Jets vs. Ravens
Another QB change for Jets
New York is coming off a 27-14 loss at New England last Thursday night, and head coach Aaron Glenn felt it was time for a change at quarterback. Because the passing offense ranks last in the NFL with just 139.9 passing yards and Justin Field has passed for just 1,259 yards with seven TDs and a pick, Glenn felt it was time. He reportedly considered making the move to Tyrod Taylor a couple of weeks ago, but Taylor was injured.
Taylor has been a long-time backup and journeyman quarterback, who at 36, has played for seven teams, throwing for 12,633 yards with 71 TDs and just 32 picks. Injuries and lack of height (6-1) have impacted his success. Taylor did start on Sept. 21 against Tampa Bay, completing 26 of 32 for 197 yards with a TD and a pick in a 29-27 loss when Fields was sidelined with a concussion. The Jets had won two straight games against the Bengals (27-20) and the Browns (27-20) before falling to the division-leading Pats.
Unfortunately for Taylor, he won't have No. 1 receiver Garrett Wilson (36 catches for 395 yds, 4 TDs), who was placed on the IR with a knee injury. They do have RB Breece Hall, who has 722 yards rushing (4.8ypc) and two TDs. The defense is led by LB Jamien Sherwood (89 tckls) and former Baltimore corner Brandon Stephens (52 tackles, 7 PD).
Ravens sloppy in win over the Browns
Baltimore has played well to get back to .500 after starting out 1-5. However, they are fortunate that the schedule got much softer, beating the likes of the Browns and Dolphins, while beating the improved Bears and underachieving Vikings in that streak. They lost to the Texans 44-10 and to the Rams 17-13 with Cooper Rush at QB, before moving to Tyler Huntley due to a hamstring injury to Pro Bowler Lamar Jackson.
Jackson returned in the 28-6 win over the Dolphins, but hasn't quite looked like himself, partially due to the injuries and pass rush playing behind a shaky offensive line. Last week in Cleveland, he threw two interceptions (one was dropped by RB Keaton Mitchell, one was tipped). Baltimore also fumbled once on a punt return and went -2 in the turnover category. They won the game on a trick play with TE Mark Andrews faking the ball up the middle on a tush push, but ran around the perimeter for a 35-yard TD with 2:31 left in the game to break a 17-17 tie.
The Ravens are 26th in total yards allowed at 354.1 per game and 20th against the run (121.5ypg). On offense, they rank fourth in rushing yards (142), but their red zone performances have been dreadful lately. They are 22nd overall in red zone TDs per game (1.7) and 28th in red zone scoring percentage.

Jet vs. Ravens ATS and Over/Under Betting Picks
Will Baltimore win their fifth straight game and cover this one or will Tyrod Taylor spoil the party? Keep reading for the analysis on the side and total of the Jets vs. Ravens prediction.
Jets vs. Ravens Spread
- NY Jets +14 (5 units)
Taylor steps up against his old team, and Hall accumulates over 100 yards rushing and receiving to make this a competitive game.
Total for Jets vs. Ravens
- Under 43.5 (4 units)
The Ravens have improved defensively, but will miss WR Rashod Bateman on offense and their offensive line has been a major issue all year. The Jets will be slightly better under Taylor, but without Wilson at WR, there are few options
Jets vs. Ravens Final Score Prediction
- Baltimore 23-NY Jets 14
The Ravens' offense has been stuck in neutral for weeks, even with Jackson back. The Jets are solid defensively, even without stars Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, who were dealt before the trade deadline. They held the Patriots to 65 yards rushing last week and will be all over Derrick Henry. Baltimore is the better team and they are at home, but they will continue to kick field goals in the red zone because they can't score touchdowns. Jackson will also look to stay in the pocket more because he missed Wednesday's practice due to injuries over the last two weeks. Taylor does a good job of protecting the ball, so it's not like he's a rookie QB that you can blitz and he'll throw it up. So turnovers shouldn't be a huge factor in pushing the game over the total.
