Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos Picks and Prediction for Sunday November 1 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/31/2026, 12:54 PM ET

Kansas City is favored by a point and a half in Denver. That’s basically the oddsmakers telling you they don’t see much separating these teams.

I see one pretty important difference.

The Chiefs are gaining almost 380 yards a game. Denver is gaining 270. That’s more than 100 yards between them, and I don’t think you can just wave that away because the Broncos have a good defense.

Now, Denver’s defense is very good. Twenty-one sacks through seven games. But Kansas City has Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs have been finding ways to win even when the offense isn’t scoring 30.

Kansas City visits Empower Field at Mile High in Denver on Sunday, November 1, with kickoff at 4:25 PM ET on CBS. The Chiefs are favored by 1.5 points, and the total is 40.5. Denver’s altitude is always part of the conversation, but both teams know what they’re getting into. The game-time weather figures weren’t reliably confirmed, so temperature, wind and precipitation should be checked before publication. Kansas City Chiefs Have the Better Offense

Kansas City is 5-1 and has been playing efficient football. The Chiefs aren’t blowing everybody out, but they’ve been protecting the ball and moving the chains. That’s usually enough when you’ve got Mahomes making decisions.

The Chiefs average 23.8 points and 379.8 yards per game. They’re fifth in total offense, and the running game has been a major part of that. The defense has only eight sacks, which is 30th in the league, so they’re not getting much pressure. But Kansas City has six interceptions and a plus-five turnover differential. That’s important against Denver because the Broncos haven’t been moving the ball consistently. Kansas City doesn’t need a bunch of sacks if it can force a couple of mistakes.

Mahomes has thrown for 1,474 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions. Kenneth Walker III has rushed for 701 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. That’s outstanding production, and it gives Kansas City a way to attack Denver without asking Mahomes to throw on every down. Travis Kelce has 343 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Omarr Norman-Lott is out with a knee injury, while Mansoor Delane, L’Jarius Sneed and R Mason Thomas are questionable. The secondary concerns matter, but Denver hasn’t been particularly dangerous through the air.

Denver Broncos Have to Win With Defense

Denver is 5-2, and the Broncos have been winning games despite an offense that’s struggled to move the football. That’s not easy to do. Their defense has been excellent at creating pressure and forcing mistakes, and they’ll need another strong performance Sunday.

The Broncos average only 20.6 points and 270 yards per game. That’s 25th in scoring and 30th in total offense. They’re also holding the ball for only 28 minutes and 28 seconds per game. That worries me against Kansas City. You don’t want to give Mahomes extra possessions, especially if your offense is going three-and-out. Denver’s defense has 21 sacks and seven interceptions, so it can absolutely make life difficult. But the Broncos need more help from the offense.

Bo Nix has thrown for 1,271 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. J.K. Dobbins has rushed for 293 yards and three scores, while Jaylen Waddle has 276 receiving yards. Denver needs more explosive plays from those guys. RJ Harvey and Talanoa Hufanga are out, while Waddle, Garett Bolles, Zach Allen and Brandon Jones are questionable. That’s a pretty important injury list. If Bolles can’t go, protecting Nix becomes tougher. If Allen is limited, Denver loses some of its defensive pressure.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos Picks and Prediction

Kansas City Chiefs -1.5

I’m taking Kansas City minus 1.5. Denver’s defense can win this game. I know that. If the Broncos get pressure on Mahomes and force a couple of turnovers, the Chiefs could be in trouble. But Kansas City has been much better offensively, and Walker has given them a strong running game. Denver is gaining only 270 yards a game, and I don’t trust that offense to score enough against a team that usually protects the football. I think Mahomes makes a couple of big plays late, and the Chiefs win by a field goal or more.

Under 40.5 Points

I’ll take Under 40.5. Denver’s defense is good enough to keep Kansas City from scoring 30, and the Broncos haven’t been doing much offensively themselves. The Chiefs can move the football, but they haven’t been finishing every drive with touchdowns. Denver’s pass rush could also force Mahomes into quicker throws and shorter gains. The danger is turnovers giving either team a short field. That’s always possible in a division game. But I see something like Kansas City 21-17, and that stays Under.

Final Picks: Kansas City Chiefs -1.5 and Under 40.5 Points
