The NFC West title could be decided on Thursday in this Rams vs. Seahawks prediction. The weather in Seattle at Lumen Field is expected to be in the high 40s with a strong chance of rain. The Rams and Seahawks are both 11-3 this season, tied for first place in the tough NFC West. The Rams have clinched a playoff spot based on the fact that they also beat the Seahawks at home, 21-19 as a 3.0-point underdog. Seattle has won four straight games, while the Rams have won eight of their last nine games. This is just one game, but Stat Salt also covers nearly every game for seven sports, including NFL picks on the other matchups this weekend.

Key Matchups for Rams vs Seahawks

Ram Tough

The Rams' six-game winning streak was snapped shockingly when they fell at Carolina, 31-28, as a 10.5-point favorite on Nov. 30. They bounced back the following week with an easy win over division rival Arizona, 45-17. This past Sunday, they came back from being down 24-14 in the first half to beat Detroit at home 41-34. Matthew Stafford was 24 of 38 for 368 yards with two TDs and a pick against his former team. LA was also able to run the football, thanks to 78 yards from Kyren Williams with two scores and 71 yards from Blake Corum and a TD. Puka Nacua was dominant with nine catches for 181 yards, but it was TE Cody Parkinson, who came up with some big plays with five catches for 75 yards and two TDs.

Stafford is having an MVP-caliber season with 3,722 yards with 37 TDs and five INTs (66.4%). Williams adds 1,030 yards rushing (4.9ypc) and 10 TDs. Nacua is one of the premier receivers in the game with 102 catches for 1,367 yards and six TDs, while Davante Adams adds 60 catches for 789 yards and 14 TDs. Byron Young leads the Rams defense with 11 sacks, while the team ranks ninth in the NFL with 37 sacks.

Seattle gets by old man Rivers

The Seahawks didn't cover the 13 points against the Colts on Sunday, but they won the game 18-16, tying the Rams for first place in the NFC West. Seattle's offense relied on six Jason Myers field goals, including a 56-yarder with 18 seconds left to win the game. It was a rough game for the offense as Sam Darnold threw for 271 yards, but no TDs and an 84.4 passer rating. Indy's defensive front held the Seattle ground game to just 50 yards on 22 carries. Forty-four-year-old Phillip Rivers managed the game for the Colts, throwing for just 118 yards with an interception.

Darnold isn't having an MVP-caliber season like Stafford, but has been solid with 3,433 yards passing, 22 TDs, and 11 INTs (67.4%). RB Kenneth Walker III adds 779 yards rushing and four TDs. Seattle has their own superstar at wide receiver with Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 96 catches for 1,541 yards and nine TDs. Seattle ranks fourth in sacks with 42, led by Byron Murphy's seven.

Rams are:

  • 7-2 ATS last 9 games.
  • 8-2 ATS last 10 vs. Seattle

Seahawks are:

  • 7-2 ATS last 9 games.
  • 5-1 Under last 6 vs. Rams.

Rams vs. Seahawks Spread

  • LA Rams -1.5 (4 units)

Total for Rams vs. Seahawks

  • Over 44.5 (4 units)

Rams vs. Seahawks Final Score Prediction

  • LA Rams 23-Seattle 20

The concern here is the Seahawks' offensive line, which really struggled against the Colts and now they are facing another strong line against the Rams. LT Charles Cross injured his hamstring late in the game against the Colts and the line wasn't played that well before the injury. In that first meeting, neither offense was that good, but Darnold tends to struggle against good defenses. He threw for 279 yards, but was picked off four times. Against good defenses like the Colts, Rams, 49ers and Texans, he has one TD pass and five INTs. These two defenses are outstanding, with Seattle ranking eighth in yards per game allowed and first in yards per play. The Rams rank ninth in rushing yards per game allowed. With the potential rain in the forecast, I expect a lot of running and a pretty short game.
