Rams look strong in win over Titans

The Rams traveled to face the Tennessee Titans last week, emerging victorious in a game that was closer than the 33-19 final score indicated. Both teams led during the first half, and the Rams didn't lead by more than seven until the final ten minutes of the fourth quarter. Los Angeles put the game on ice with a scoring drive that started on the Tennessee 18-yard line, after Byron Young–who had a field day against Titans reserve right tackle John Ojukwu–forced a fumble on his second sack of rookie quarterback Cam Ward.

Offensively, the Rams looked like a well-oiled machine against the Titans. Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 23 of 33 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown, posting a 69.7 completion percentage and 9.03 yards per attempt. Of those 33 attempts, 22 targeted either Davante Adams, who finished the game with 106 yards and a touchdown on six catches, or Puka Nacua, who hauled in eight of nine targets for 91 yards. Nacua remains the focal point of the offense – he blocked at the point of attack on several of Kyren Williams' 17 rushing attempts, and he ran in the team's first touchdown on a fourth-down sweep that would've ended in the backfield if he hadn't dodged a tackle from safety Xavier Woods. Elsewhere in the offense, Jordan Whittington and Davis Allen were both responsible for big plays, and Tyler Higbee made a pair of significant gains on well-executed block-and-release routes and well-timed throws from Stafford.

Heading into Week 3, the Rams figure to face their greatest challenge yet in the 2-0 Eagles – especially in the trenches, on both sides. We'll see how their performance against the Titans translates.

Bottom Team

The Eagles traveled to Kansas City in Week 2, where they won a 20-17 rematch against their opponent from last season's final game. Offense didn't come easy for either team – defensive coordinators Vic Fangio and Steve Spagnuolo sent the house on what felt like every other play, while quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes struggled mightily to advance the ball through the air. Andrew Mukuba made the play of the game early in the fourth quarter, picking off a bobbled pass that Mahomes threw to Travis Kelce at the goal line when the Eagles were only up 13-10. On the ensuing drive, Hurts targeted Devonta Smith on his first completed pass to travel over ten yards in the air, giving the Eagles first-and-goal on the Chiefs' 3-yard line. Hurts ran in the touchdown from a yard out four plays later, putting the Eagles up 20-10 with just under eight minutes left to play.

Overall, Hurts completed 15 of 22 passes for 101 yards, averaging only 4.59 yards per attempt while taking two sacks. Saquon Barkley carried the day for the offense, putting up 88 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. The Eagles' defense made life difficult for Mahomes, holding him to 187 yards in the air and largely shutting down the Chiefs' attempts to move the ball on the ground. Mahomes led the team with 66 yards and a touchdown on seven scrambles; Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco combined for only 53 yards on 18 carries.

Hurts' scoring play was one of several from the game that drew scrutiny from the league for officiating reasons. Ramon George, the NFL vice president of officiating training and development, singled out Eagles right guard Tyler Steen for getting away with a false start on a short-yardage conversion in the fourth quarter. The issue figures to be a point of emphasis for officiating crews moving forward; we'll see how that manifests in Week 3.

Top Team vs Bottom Team Pick

Spread Pick for Top Team vs Bottom Team

  • Los Angeles Rams +4.0 (-125) (4 Units)

The Eagles have won ugly through two games in 2025, putting away the Cowboys and Chiefs by a combined seven points to go 2-0. The Rams should pose a bigger challenge than either team, and they'll likely push the Eagles to score more than 24 points if they want to win comfortably. I might take the Rams here to win outright; I'd certainly take them to cover as four-point underdogs after their wins against the Texans and Titans.

Over/Under Pick for Top Team vs Bottom Team

  • Over 44.5 (-110) (4 Units)

After the Team Total Under went 2-0 through the Eagles' first two games, the total line ahead of their Week 3 tilt with the Rams is three points lower than it was ahead of those games. I'd buy the dip and take the over here – the Rams' last game in 2024 ended in a 22-28 loss to the Eagles, hitting the over on a 43.0-point line. The Rams are coming off a game where they pulled ahead late to beat the Titans 33-19; the Eagles' defense may be a tougher object to move, but the Rams' offense should be a tougher force to stop. In a nutshell: the Cowboys and Chiefs didn't have Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
