Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets Picks and Prediction

Pick: New York Jets -4.5

New York has an excellent opportunity to get back in the win column Sunday against a Miami team that has yet to win a game this season. The Jets have been competitive defensively, particularly against the pass, and should be able to take advantage of a Dolphins offense that has struggled to move the football consistently. Miami quarterback Malik Willis has had difficulty establishing a productive passing attack, which could allow New York to focus more attention on stopping the run and limiting his ability to extend plays outside the pocket. Offensively, Geno Smith has been efficient moving the football and should have opportunities to attack a Miami defense that has struggled to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Garrett Wilson gives the Jets a dangerous receiving option, and New York should be able to create enough opportunities through the air to establish an advantage. Look for the Jets to capitalize on Miami's offensive struggles and cover the spread in front of their home crowd.

Pick: Under 39.5

Neither Miami nor New York has been particularly explosive offensively this season, making the under an appealing option in Sunday's divisional matchup. The Dolphins have struggled to establish a reliable passing game, and facing a Jets defense that has been effective at limiting opposing quarterbacks could lead to another difficult afternoon. New York has also experienced stretches of inconsistent offensive production, which could keep this game competitive even if the Jets control most of the action. Miami will likely need to rely heavily on its running game and Willis' ability to create plays with his legs, which could lead to longer possessions and fewer overall scoring opportunities. The Jets should have success moving the football, but they have not consistently turned those opportunities into touchdowns. Expect both teams to lean on their defenses and play a more controlled style of football, keeping the final score below the posted total.

Final Picks: New York Jets -4.5 and Under 39.5
