Can the Vikings build on their offensive explosion?

The Minnesota Vikings saw some big changes this offseason, most notably to the QB position, but through three weeks, they appear ready to contend in the NFC once more on the back of a 1-0 road record to start the 2025 campaign. While they've been up-and-down in three games, the Vikings rank sixth in the NFL in points scored thus far in 2025, and with a defense that allows just 270 yards a game and ranks ninth in points allowed, the ceiling is incredibly high for the Vikings once more.

Unsurprisingly, the success of this team relies upon first-year starter JJ McCarthy, but he's out for this one with an injury, meaning they'll turn to veteran Carson Wentz, who completed 14/20 passes for two scores and no turnovers a week ago, bringing the veteran edge this team needs. Last time out for the Vikings was a massive win over the Cincinnati Bengals, with the Vikings rushing for 169 yards on the day as they forced five Bengals turnovers, leading to the statement-making 48-10 victory at home.

They allow 271.3 yards per game (6th) and 141.3 passing yards per game (3rd). On offense, they average just 268 yards per game (28th) and 145.7 passing yards (30th).

Can the Steelers keep pace atop the AFC North?

The Pittsburgh Steelers came into 2025 with high hopes after landing Aaron Rodgers in the offseason, and while things haven't clicked immediately, they have a share of the top spot in the AFC North this year on the back of a 2-1 start through three games. It's not all been perfect for the Steelers, as they rank 30th in the NFL in yards despite putting up 24 points a night, but with their highly paid defense giving up 26 a night, they need to find that balance to become a genuine contender in the AFC.

Leading the way for that offense has been the Hall of Fame QB Rodgers, who may only be averaging 195 passing yards a game, but with seven Touchdowns through the air, this team has kept itself alive despite just 189 total rushing yards and one score on the ground this season. Last time out for the Steelers was a tight win over the New England Patriots, with the offense managing just 203 yards on the day as they forced five turnovers of their own, leading to the massive 21-14 victory on the road.

The Steelers rank low in most categories. They average just 247 yards per game (30th) and 63 rushing yards per game (31st). On defense, they are allowing 386 yards per game (28th) and 139.3 rushing yards (27th).

Minnesota Vikings vs. Pittsburgh Steelers pick

Money line pick for Vikings vs. Steelers

  • Minnesota -2.5 (4 units)

Despite JJ McCarthy being out, the Vikings fared well with Carson Wentz under center a week ago, posting 48 points and no turnovers from the QB in a massive win, and given that they rank top-10 in scoring both offensively and defensively, it's easy to see why they're the favorite here.

On top of that, the Steelers managed just 200 yards of offense a week ago, and if the Vikings' offense can limit their turnovers here, they should pick up a hard-fought victory in Dublin, Ireland.

Over/Under pick for Vikings vs. Steelers

  • Under 44.5 (4 units)

Simply put, the strength of both these teams has been their defense, and with games in Europe being famously low-scoring for the most part, expect these squads to grind out a very competitive contest to kick off NFL Sunday.

For the Vikings, the under sits at 2-1 this season, with just 18 points allowed per game to this point, and for the Steelers, the under comes in at 2-1 in 2025, with the team scoring 21 or fewer points in their last two weeks.

Keep it simple, take the under.
