Giants Attempting To Avoid Mediocrity
The Giants are coming off a loss last week to the Commanders with a final score of 21-6. The Giants would kick off their season with a loss on the road as they continue on a two-game road trip before heading back home for their home opener in week three against the Chiefs. Last season, the Giants finished last in the NFC East with a record of 3-14.
New York looks desperate to break from their past seasons, but there has been little improvement. This is especially evident after week one’s game against the Commanders. The Giants would continue their touchdown woes into this season as they were unable to score a touchdown in their first game of the season. While there was a lot of hope for the team with players like Malik Nabers improving their offensive core, it still seems not to be enough. Last season, the Giants finished second-to-last in points scored and third-to-last in yards.
Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the Giants this season.
Russell Wilson:
- has a passer rating of 59.3 with 168 yards in one game this season.
- had a passer rating of 95.6 with 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 11 games in 2024 with the Steelers.
- has a passer rating of 99.7 with 1,087 yards, 11 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 6 games against the Cowboys in his career; all playing with the Seahawks.

Cowboys Looking To Bounce Back After Tough Loss
The Cowboys picked up a tough loss last week to the Eagles with a final score of 24-20 on opening night on Thursday. The Cowboys would kick off their season with a loss on the road but will be looking for their first win in their home opener this Sunday against the Giants. Dallas finished third in the NFC East last season with a record of 7-10.
Dallas struggled last season on defense, ranking second-to-last in points allowed and 28th overall in yards. Their biggest weakness was the run game, which saw them 29th in total rushing yards and third to last in rushing yards averaged per carry at 4.8. Dallas, before the season started, traded away a key piece of their defense in Micah Parsons and as a result, the Cowboys’ defense has only gone downhill. The Cowboys, in their first game of the season, allowed 158 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns to the Eagles. While you could argue that the Eagles are an elite running team and coming off a Super Bowl win, I still believe that Dallas would struggle this much against any team’s run game.
The Cowboys will have another season with Dak Prescott as the starting quarterback.
Dak Prescott:
- has a passer rating of 76.6 with 188 yards in 1 game this season.
- had a passer rating of 86.0 with 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 8 games in 2024.
- has a passer rating of 102.4 with 3,915 yards, 29 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in 15 games against the Giants in his career.
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys Prediction and Picks
Spread Pick for New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
- Cowboys -4.5 (-120) (5 units)
The Giants have a 2-6 record against the spread in their last eight games versus the Cowboys. The Cowboys have a 7-2 record against the spread in their last nine games versus the Giants at home. New York had a record of 2-5 against the spread as underdogs on the road in 2024. Last season the Cowboys played two games at home in which they were a home favorite. Dallas had a record of 1-1 in games last season as a home favorite, and that one game in which they won was against the Giants with a final score of 27-20. Dallas will be looking for a huge bounce-back win after last week's close loss to the Eagles and I have no doubt they will get the job done against the Giants on Sunday.
Over/Under Pick for New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
- Over 44.5 (-115) (4 units)
The Giants have an over/under record of 6-0 in their last six games against the Cowboys on the road. The Cowboys had an over/under record of 6-3 at home in 2024 and a 2-0 record as favorites. Both teams are struggling on defense and it looks like this game is going to be a back-and-forth matchup. Dak Prescott has a passer rating of 119.8 with 1,538 yards, 13 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 5 games in his last 5 games against the Giants at home. We see a huge game out of Prescott and with the Giants capable of taking advantage of the poor Cowboys’ defense, we should expect to see a high-scoring game.
