Can the Giants build on a win behind their rookie QB?
The New York Giants have one of the more overlooked rosters in the NFL, and while they're 0-2 on the road early this season, after turning to their first-round pick a week ago, this appears to be a team that could build some momentum, even with the loss of Malik Nabers (ACL). While the Giants have moved the ball well in 2025, this is a team that ranks 27th in the league in scoring this season, and with the team giving up over 25 points a game, they've given themselves very little chance to build momentum.
The Giants started 2025 with Russell Wilson under center, but now, this is officially rookie Jaxson Dart's team, and after impressing a week ago, the team believes this dual-threat QB could be the answer to their lengthy starting quarterback search. Last time out was the Giants' first win of the campaign over the Los Angeles Chargers, with Dart tossing his first score and rushing for one too in this matchup as New York forced two key interceptions from Justin Herbert as they came away winners 21-18 despite being out-gained by almost 100 yards in this one. The only negative for Dart and a common theme for young quarterbacks who can run is that he was sacked five times. He does have help in rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who had 79 yards on 25 carries in his first start.
On the injury front, DL Dexter Lawrence (illness) and S Tyler Nubin (groin) are listed as questionable.
Can the Saints pick up their first win of the season?
The New Orleans Saints came into 2025 with very low expectations, and for 4 weeks, they have had a point differential of -55, showing exactly why their fans believe it will be quite some time until they're a competitive team in the NFL once more. Unfortunately for the Saints, they rank 30th in the NFL in points allowed at 30 a game, and with the offense scoring just 17 a night, it's easy to see why this team is going to struggle for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.
This season, the Saints have turned to young QB Spencer Rattler, who has been fairly solid given the circumstances, tallying a 5/1 TD/INT ratio to this point, but with the team rushing for just two touchdowns on the season, they remain fairly limited. Last time out for New Orleans was a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills, with the team remaining competitive behind 189 rushing yards on the day, and even with their opponents being penalized 11 times in this one, they fell 31-19.
The Saints will need that running game to be front and center in this matchup. Veteran running back Alvin Kamara rushed for 70 yards against the Bills and received some help from Kendre Miller, who had 65 yards and a score. Kamara is still a productive all-around back who has 256 yards rushing and 13 catches for 49 yards.
New York Giants vs. New Orleans Saints pick
Moneyline pick for Giants vs. Saints
- New York Giants +2.5 (4 units)
Neither of these teams has been consistently impressive thus far in 2025, but after picking up a solid win in Jaxson Dart's NFL debut a week ago, the Giants come into this one with both momentum and confidence.
They may be 0-2 on the road this season, but the Saints have been outscored by more than 50 points this year, and with the Giants at least having some strengths to lean on, expect them to pick up a win in this intriguing showdown. New Orleans doesn't have enough talent on the offensive side of the ball. Even without Nabors, the Giants have a rookie in Skattebo, who can overpower defenders, and Darius Slayton and Wan'dale Robinson to get open to move the chains.
Over/Under pick for Giants vs. Saints
- Under 42 (4 units)
Simply put, neither of these teams has thrived offensively in 2025, as they both rank in the bottom third of the league in points scored, and with defenses that can step up and play, this one should be a low-scoring battle. You have two young quarterbacks and both teams would like to establish the run, which will mean several long drives eating up a lot of clock.
For the Giants, the under sits at 3-1 in 2025, with the team scoring 21 or fewer points in three of those games, and for the Saints, the under comes in at 2-2 in their four games this season, with an average of just 16.5 points scored per game during that span.
Keep it simple, take the under.
