Can the 49ers stay undefeated on the road?
The 2024 NFL season was one full of injuries and inconsistency for the San Francisco 49ers, and while they were overlooked as a result coming into this season, they're now 4-1 to start the season, with the team going 3-0 on the road with a point differential of +12 in that time. The biggest strength for San Francisco this year has been a passing game that ranks No. 1 in the entire NFL in yards per game, and with the defense holding their opponents to just 19.6 points a night, they've got a major strength on both sides of the ball.
At quarterback, it's actually been Mac Jones to lead the success for San Francisco, with a TD/INT ratio of 6/1 on the year, with incumbent starter Brock Purdy questionable for this one, as the team still searches for their first rushing touchdown of the season. Last time out for the 49ers was a big win over the Los Angeles Rams, with 342 yards from Jones through the air leading the way as the team forced two key turnovers, picking up the 26-23 victory despite being outgained by the Rams on the day. WR Kendrick Bourne stepped up with a career-high 10 catches and 142 yards. Mac Jones is dealing with a knee and oblique injury, but is expected to play with Purdy likely missing this game. WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) and WR Jauan Jennings (ankle/rib) are both questionable, along with WR Jordan Watkins (calf).
Can the Buccaneers cement themselves as an NFC favorite?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have found themselves a star in Baker Mayfield, and after five straight one-possession games resulting in a 4-1 record this season, they'll be growing in confidence that they can beat any team in the NFL moving forward. Despite their success, the Buccaneers have struggled defensively in 2025 as they allow 26 points a game, but with an offense that puts up 27 and ranks top-10 in the league across all major offensive categories, they've given themselves a great chance to win every time out.
Unsurprisingly, this team is led again by the success of Mayfield under center, with a phenomenal QB rating of 104 alongside a 10/1 TD/INT ratio on the season, and with rookie Emeka Egbuka breaking out as a star, this is a team to watch. Last time out for the Buccaneers was a high-scoring win over the Seattle Seahawks, with 379 passing yards and two scores to Mayfield leading the way as the team forced two crucial turnovers in this one to pull out the dramatic 38-35 victory.
The Bucs continue having injury issues at wide receiver with Mike Evans (hamstring) still out and now WR Chris Godwin (fibula) is also out. RB Bucky Irving (shoulder), who is Tampa Bay's leading rusher with 237 yards, is listed as doubtful.

While the 49ers have won the last four head-to-head matchups between these teams, the Buccaneers come in with one of the best offenses in the National Football League, and after a high-scoring win in their last game, expect Baker Mayfield to motivate his team to a big home victory in this one.
