Chicago Falls In Close First Game
The Blackhawks are coming off a loss on Tuesday versus the Panthers with a final score of 3-2. This would be the first loss of the season for Chicago as they continue on their short two-game road trip to kick off their season before returning home Saturday for their home opener.
While the Blackhawks did pick up the loss in their first game of the season, we did see a positive to come out of it and that is their newly acquired goaltender Spencer Knight. Knight posted an impressive .919 save percentage on 37 shots on net. The defense for Chicago still seems to be struggling with allowing shots on net but thanks to the addition of Knight to the lineup, we may see the Blackhawks find more success than last year which saw them at the bottom of their division.

Bruins Return Home On A High Note
The Bruins picked up a huge first win of the season on Wednesday against the Capitals with a final score of 3-1. This win was important as they sat at the bottom of their division last season and to kick off a season following that with a win is a huge morale booster for the team. Boston will be looking to carry that momentum into Thursday as they host the Blackhawks for their home opener.
Last season, the Bruins had difficulties at both ends of the ice as they ranked 27th in scoring and 26th in goals allowed. To combat this the Bruins bolstered their bottom six in the offseason by signing forwards Viktor Arvidsson, Tanner Jeannot, Sean Kuraly, and Michael Eyssimont. These players will play a huge role for the Bruins as they look to improve the bottom half of their forward lineup, which has not produced many goals in recent years.
Due to us seeing Jeremy Swayman get the start in net yesterday, we will likely see Joonas Korpisalo step on the ice for the Bruins in their home opener.

While these records are not crazy, it does show us that Chicago has won games against a very tough division and Boston has given up quite a few losses as a home favorite against the Central division. Boston is not the team they were a few years ago, and looked almost gutted with the loss of many of their star players, namely left-winger Brad Marchand, who won a cup with the Florida Panthers this postseason. Chicago has nowhere to go but up and with some new quality in net for the Blackhawks and some more reliable forwards to assist center Connor Bedard, we should expect to see a lot more out of this Chicago team. Following a close loss against the Stanley Cup Champions, the Blackhawks should be conditioned and motivated to bounce back with a win on Thursday.
