This article was written before the results of the Avalanche versus Bruins game on 10/25/2025.
Avalanche’s Stalwart Defending
The Avalanche are traveling to New Jersey after their game on Saturday versus the Bruins. Colorado is looking to bounce back after their previous two losses to the Hurricanes and Mammoth as it continues a short two-game road trip before hosting the Devils on Tuesday.
Colorado has been one of the more reliable defenses this season from both a defense and a goaltender perspective. The Avalanche have allowed only 26.00 shots per game this season and their goaltending ranks fifth in save percentage at .918. This, in combination with an impressive penalty kill at 87% (9th) it is not surprising, as the Avalanche rank second in the league in goals allowed. Most teams would be able to survive on this defense alone but the Avalanche are also finding success on offense, ranking sixth overall in scoring.
Due to us seeing Scott Wedgewood get the start in net for the Avalanche against the Bruins yesterday, we will likely see Trent Miner get the start in net on Sunday.
Trent Miner:
- had a record of 0-1-0 in 2 games with a goals against average of 2.62 and a save percentage of .879 in his rookie season in 2024-25.
Injuries:
- Blackwood G Out - Lower-Body
- O'Connor RW Out - Hip
- Kiviranta LW Out - Lower Body
- Girard D Out - Upper-Body

Devils Remain Undefeated At Home
The Devils are continuing their home stand after a win on Friday versus the Sharks with a final score of 3-1. This is the seventh win in a row for the Devils and they remain undefeated at home with a 4-0-0 record. New Jersey is looking to finish a three-game home stand before heading on the road for a lengthy road trip.
New Jersey has been dominating the league right now, ranking second overall in scoring and third in goals allowed. The key to their scoring and defense has been their special teams, with the Devils sitting both third in power play percentage at 32.0% as well as penalty kill percentage at 93.1%. New Jersey has made it difficult for teams to find any sort of offense against them, which has made it easy for their offense to score the few goals needed to grab wins. Leading the team in scoring is center Jack Hughe,s who has six goals across his eight games played thus far.
We will likely see Jake Allen get the start in net for the Devils on Sunday.
Jake Allen:
- has a 4-0-0 record in 5 games with a goals against average of 1.72 and a save percentage of .932 this season.
- had a record of 13-16-1 in 31 games with a goals against average of 2.66 and a save percentage of .906 in 2024-25.
- is 10-8-3 in 24 games with a goals against average of 2.62 and a save percentage of .915 against the Avalanche in his career.
Injuries:
- Glass C Out - Upper Body
- Lammikko LW Out - Undisclosed
- Markstrom G Out - Lower-body
- MacEwen RW Out - Upper-body
- Dadonov RW Out - Hand
- Kovacevic D Out - Knee
- McLaughlin C Out - Undisclosed
Avalanche vs. Devils Picks and Prediction
Money Line Pick for Avalanche vs. Devils
- Devils Money Line (-142) ( 4 units)
The Devils have a 3-1-0 record in their last four games versus the Avalanche at home. The Avalanche were 4-7-0 as underdogs on the road in 2024-25. The Avalanche are playing their third game in four days on Sunday, and this is going to put a strain on their defense. While both teams have a reliable defense, I believe we will see some mistakes on the Colorado defense. The Avalanche have struggled on the power play and are facing one of the top penalty kills in the league. Without consistent scoring chances, I do not believe the Avalanche will be able to keep up with the Devils’ offense.
Over/Under Pick for Avalanche vs. Devils
- Under 6.5 (-128) ( 5 units)
The Devils have an over/under record of 1-3 at home this season. The Avalanche share the same over/under record with the Devils on the road, with a 1-3 record away from home. Both of these teams have elite defenses and reliable goaltending. We will see how the young goaltender will perform in net for the Avalanche, but I suspect the defense will allow few scoring opportunities against him. Jake Allen has been reliable in the net for the Devils and going against a tired Avalanche offense, he should have an easy night as well.
