Red Wings Off to Hot Start

Detroit entered the year with a nine-year playoff drought, and the Red Wings were hopeful that it would end. To begin the season, the Red Wings are hot and coming off a shootout win over San Jose. In the win, Detroit was led by Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider, who both scored.

Detroit averages 3.2 goals per game and ranks 10th on the power play (23.8%). They rank 7th on the penalty kill at 86.8% success rate.

The Red Wings are set to start John Gibson, who's 4-3 with a 3.32 GAA and a .875 SV% this season. Detroit made a bold move to acquire the star goalie, and he's been stellar after a brutal first start. He's 6-18-5 with a 3.37 GAA and a .905 SV% in his career against Vegas.

Detroit will be without Patrick Kane.

Golden Knights in the Midst of a Lengthy Homestand

Vegas is 6-2-3 and in second place in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights are set to play their second game of a six-game homestand on Tuesday. Vegas is coming off a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, while the Golden Knights were led by Mitch Marner and Tomas Hertl, who both had a goal and an assist.

Vegas ranks 16th in the penalty kill at an 80% success rate. They average 3.5 goals per game (9th) and rank 10th in the power play (25.6%).

The Golden Knights are expected to start Akira Schmid, who's 5-1 with a 2.73 GAA and a .892 SV%. Adin Hill is likely to miss this game again due to an injury, opening the door for Schmid to start. He's 0-1-0 with a 5.00 GAA and a .833 SV% in his career against Detroit.

Vegas is without Hill and Colton Sissons.

Red Wings vs. Golden Knights Pick

Money line pick for Red Wings vs. Golden Knights

  • Golden Knights ML -180 (4 units)

Vegas is in the midst of a homestand and should come out strong on Tuesday to get a big win over Detroit. The Red Wings also end their five-game Western road trip, which is always a tough game, as Detroit will likely be slower out of the gates. Although the Golden Knights are without Hill, Schmid has been good, and he should limit the Red Wings' offense to get a win at home.

Over/Under pick for Red Wings vs. Golden Knights

  • Under 6.5 goals -135 (4 units)

The under is also a good spot here as Gibson and Schmid have both been solid this season and will limit the offense, as 6.5 goals is a lot. Meanwhile, the last game of a road trip tends to be a bad one for teams, as Detroit will have some tired legs and slow this game down. Expect both goalies to have success for the under to cash.
