Edmonton has been one of the NHL's most productive offensive teams early in the regular season, averaging 5.5 goals on 28.25 shots per game. The Oilers have scored 22 goals through four outings while allowing 16, giving up an average of 4 goals per contest. Edmonton has started the season with a 3-0-1 record and has won three consecutive games. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers with 12 points and nine assists, while Evan Bouchard has provided significant offensive production from the blue line. Bouchard leads the NHL with six goals, while Leon Draisaitl continues to play an important role in Edmonton's offensive success. The Oilers have also converted 25% of their power-play opportunities this season.

Edmonton picked up its third consecutive victory Wednesday night, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 at Honda Center. The Oilers fell behind 2-0 in the opening period before scoring five unanswered goals in the second. Evan Bouchard led Edmonton with two goals and one assist, while Connor McDavid added one goal and two assists. Leon Draisaitl was outstanding as a facilitator, recording four assists in just over 19 minutes of ice time. Kasperi Kapanen and Vasily Podkolzin scored one goal each, giving Edmonton five different scoring contributions during its comeback. Devon Levi finished with 29 saves as the Oilers overcame a slow start to secure another road victory.

San Jose tries to defend their ice

San Jose comes into the weekend with a 3-1 record after winning three of its first four games, all in overtime. The Sharks have scored 12 goals this season, averaging 3 goals per contest, while allowing 14 goals for an average of 3.5 per game. San Jose has shown the ability to make plays late in games, but the team will need to improve defensively against Edmonton's high-powered offense. Tyler Toffoli has been an important contributor offensively, while Collin Graf has also provided scoring production. The Sharks have been without Macklin Celebrini for their last two games because of a lower-body injury, leaving the team without one of its most dangerous offensive players.

San Jose picked up another overtime victory Thursday night, defeating the St. Louis Blues 3-2 on the road. Darnell Nurse scored the game-winning goal just 1:03 into overtime, giving the Sharks their third victory of the regular season. Tyler Toffoli led the offense with one goal and one assist, while Collin Graf scored the game-tying goal in the third period. San Jose fell behind twice during regulation but answered both times to force overtime. Alex Nedeljkovic made his first start of the season and finished with 24 saves on 26 shots. The Sharks will look to build on the victory when they return home to face Edmonton.

Edmonton Oilers vs San Jose Sharks Picks and Prediction

Pick: Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton should have a significant offensive advantage Saturday afternoon when the Oilers visit San Jose. The Sharks have enough young talent to create problems, but slowing down Edmonton's offensive attack will be a difficult challenge. The Oilers have several players capable of taking over a game and should be able to create scoring chances throughout the afternoon. San Jose will need to remain disciplined and avoid giving Edmonton too many opportunities on the power play. The Sharks could find success offensively against the Oilers, but they may struggle to keep pace if Edmonton gets rolling early. Look for the Oilers to control much of the game and use their offensive firepower to secure another division victory.

Pick: Over

Offensive production should be a major factor when Edmonton and San Jose meet Saturday afternoon. The Oilers have the ability to score in bunches and should be able to generate plenty of quality chances against the Sharks. San Jose has enough young offensive talent to contribute to the scoring and could find success if Edmonton struggles defensively. Both teams should have opportunities to create chances in transition, which could lead to several goals throughout the game. Edmonton's power play could also make a difference if San Jose spends too much time in the penalty box. The Oilers should lead the way offensively, but the Sharks could contribute enough goals to make this one of the higher-scoring games on the schedule.
