They are still only four points behind the Detroit Red Wings for the top spot in the division, though. They are 3-0-0 at home but 0-0-4 on the road thus far and have lost four in a row heading into this contest. Meanwhile, the Bruins are 5th in the Metro division, obtaining only six points in the first seven games of the season. They are 2-1 at home this season and 1-3-0 on the road. Interestingly, Boston is also suffering from a four-game losing streak. The Panthers are favored at a -145 money line while the total is set at 5.5 goals. Panthers Looking for a Three Peat
Florida fell in their most recent contest to the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 3-0. Brad Marchand, Seth Jones, and Carter Verhaeghe each had four shots on goal while Mackie Samokevich had a team-high seven shots. Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 of 31 saves, but ultimately the woes continued on the road for Florida.
Florida's offense ranks 30th in goals per game, 16th on the power play, 16th in shots per game, and 25th in the face-off circle. Brad Marchand leads most categories with six points, three goals, three assists, eight penalty minutes, and 24 shots on goal. Evan Rodrigues has the highest +/- among forwards with a +1 and Sam Reinhart is the only forward with an average of more than 20 minutes of ice time. Anton Lundell is the only Panther with multiple power play goals this season and Brad Marchand has a team-high two power play assists.

Seth Jones and Gustav Forsling lead the defense with three points each, although Aaron Ekblad is the only defensive player to score for Florida thus far. Forsling has a +1 to lead the unit and Ekblad has a defense-high four penalty minutes. Interestingly, he is also logging the most average time on ice with a 23:53 time. Ekblad has scored on the power play and Jeff Petry has the most power play assists with two. Sergei Bobrovsky is the undisputed #1 goalie for Florida, and he has a 2.02 GAA with a 91.7% save percentage to start the year. Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov are two of the four players listed as out for this upcoming contest. In total, Florida ranks 15th in goals against, 11th on the penalty kill and 9th in shots against.
Bruins Battling (Barely)
Boston also lost their latest game to the Utah Mammoth by a score of 3-2. David Pastrnak continues to carry this franchise with two goals, and three different players had an assist on the day. As expected, Pastrnak led the team with five shots on goal and Joonas Korpisalo made 24 of 27 saves in the effort.
The Bruins have started better than they performed last year, ranking 16th in goals per game, 23rd in shots per game, 2nd in the face-off circle, and 20th on the power play. Pastrank leads the unit with eight points and four goals overall. Pavel Zacha has the most assists for the Bruins with five and Pastrnak has eight penalty minutes to his name. Elias Lindholm is tied with Pastrnak with two power-play goals on the season and Zacha has a team-high three power-play assists. Among all forwards for the Bruins, Pastrnak is averaging just over 20 minutes per game and he leads the team in shots with 27.
On the defensive side, Charlie McAvoy leads most categories with four points, an average of 24:27 of ice time, four assists, ten penalty minutes, and 14 total shots on the season. Nikita Zadorov has the best +/- ratio among blue-liners with a +4 and McAvoy is the only defender for the Bruins with a point on the power play. Jeremy Swayman has gotten four starts compared to Korpisalo's three in net. The former has done better thus far with a 2.76 GAA and a 91.7% save percentage. Overall, the Bruins are 20th in goals against, 6th on the penalty kill, and 21st in shots against. Fortunately for the Bruins, there are no injuries to report and they look to be fully healthy heading into this contest.

Florida has had Boston's number as of late, dating back to last season and the season before that. I fully expect Florida to get much better than their 0-4 record on the road suggests. While Tkachuk and Barkov are some big names to be on the injured list for the Panthers, they still have some key contributors in Reinhart and Marchand looking to score early and often, particularly the latter player. I trust Bobrovsky much more than I do Swayman at this point, and the law of averages should play itself out, giving Florida an edge.

Florida has found some hiccups in their scoring abilities on the road so far, but I have confidence it will change that at some point. Swayman and Korpisalo have given up an average of over four goals per game across their last four games. The Panthers should be able to capitalize on that as well. Boston should be able to score at least a couple of goals as they have done in each of their last four games against Florida. The Panthers haven't looked as good on the defensive end either, with at least three goals surrendered in each of their last four games.
