The Atlantic Division is set to be a hotly contested one again in 2025/26, and with so many competitive teams, we'll look into another intriguing contest on Wednesday with our Florida Panthers vs. Detroit Red Wings prediction.

The Florida Panthers (3-1-0) may have injuries and plenty of hockey on their bodies in recent years, but that hasn't stopped them from getting off to a red-hot start this season as they look to three-peat as Stanley Cup Champions.

On Wednesday, they take on the Detroit Red Wings (2-1-0), a team that's off to a great start this season, and with expectations of ending their post-season drought this year, it appears they're ready for a big campaign. Read on to see our Florida Panthers vs. Detroit Red Wings prediction.

Can the Panthers remain dominant in the division?

The Florida Panthers have been one of the NHL's most dominant teams in recent years, and while their regular-season record isn't quite as good as expected, they've been great on the road with a 20-19-2 record, although they began this season with a tough loss. Through four games this season, the team is led in scoring by the duo of Brad Marchand and Anton Lundell with four each, and with nine other players posting multiple points already, this is a deep team capable of some big offensive performances.

In net, the Panthers will once again turn to superstar Sergei Bobrovsky, who has started red-hot in 2025/26, posting a 1.67 GAA and a .925 save percentage through three appearances as the team has dominated every game that he's started. Last time out for Florida was their first loss of the season to the Philadelphia Flyers, with two points to Sam Reinhart accounting for all of the offense as Daniil Tarasov allowed three goals on 27 shots as the team came up short 5-2.

Can the Red Wings build on two straight wins?

The Detroit Red Wings have seemingly been building something special for a number of years now, and while they're 1-1 at home to start the year, they've got the opportunity to make a statement in this one. In three games, it's been the top line of Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat to lead the way for Detroit with four points each, and with Larkin & Raymond both posting three of their own, this is an offense that could be one of the best in the NHL this season.

For Detroit, they'll look to veteran Cam Talbot, who has been equally as hot this season with a 2.11 GAA in three appearances, and with a .925 save percentage, they'll give the team a chance to win every night out. Last time out for the Red Wings was a tight win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, with Talbot making an impressive 38 saves, as eight players posted a point as the team came from behind to pick up the 3-2 victory.

Florida Panthers vs. Detroit Red Wings picks

Moneyline picks for Panthers vs. Red Wings

  • Florida -150 (4 units)

On paper, this Florida Panthers team is the far superior team, but on top of that, they've dominated this rivalry with the Detroit Red Wings, picking up a 7-3 record in their last 10 head-to-head meetings, despite Detroit winning two of three in 2024/25.

However, in Detroit, the Panthers have been dominant, winning four of the last five matchups with the Red Wings on their home ice, and with Bobrovsky off to an incredible start, expect him to lead Florida to a tight victory in this one.

Over/under pick for Panthers vs. Red Wings

  • Under 7 (4 units)

While both these lineups have been off to a hot start in 2025/26, when these two teams meet, it's all about the goaltending, with the under being 8-2 in their last 10 head-to-head encounters, with seven or less total goals scored in all three meetings last year.

For the Panthers, the under sits at 2-2 to start the new season, with a total of 10 goals allowed in four games thus far, and for the Red Wings, the under comes in at 2-1 through three games, with just three goals allowed per game to this point.

Keep it simple, take the under.
