Chicago has been waiting for its offense to get going again, and Tuesday's opponent has been having similar problems. Los Angeles visits the United Center for an 8:00 pm ET game on ESPN+, just one night after facing the Rangers in New York. The Kings are 2-5-2 and seventh in the Pacific Division. They last played Saturday, losing 3-1 to New Jersey after picking up victories against Washington and the Islanders. Chicago is 3-8-0, last in the Central Division, and coming off Sunday's 3-2 loss to Florida. The Blackhawks have dropped three straight and scored just three goals during that stretch. Los Angeles Kings Face Another Quick Turnaround

There was some reason for optimism in Los Angeles last week. The Kings went into Washington and won 5-2, then found a way past the Islanders in overtime. That 3-2 victory gave Los Angeles consecutive wins for the first time this season. New Jersey brought the short run to an end Saturday, holding the Kings to one goal. Los Angeles has been shut down offensively several times already, scoring once against Edmonton, Boston and New Jersey. The Kings have 21 goals through nine games, and their 65.5% penalty kill hasn't helped matters. Tuesday brings a quick turnaround after Monday's road game against the Rangers.

Artemi Panarin has done a lot of the scoring for the Kings, finding the net six times in nine games. The rest of the team has combined for 15 goals. Adrian Kempe is second on the club with eight points, three of them goals, while Brandt Clarke and Alex Laferriere have seven points each. Darcy Kuemper has handled most of the work between the pipes, going 2-3-1 with a 3.55 GAA and .890 save percentage. Anton Forsberg hasn't recorded a victory yet, but his numbers are slightly better in some areas. He's 0-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .894 save percentage.

Injuries: Alex Turcotte, Jakub Dvorak, Jan Jenik and Kevin Fiala are out. Quinton Byfield is day-to-day.

Chicago Blackhawks Need More Goals at Home

Chicago had a couple of enjoyable nights earlier in the month, beating Pittsburgh 5-3 and Winnipeg 4-3 in overtime. Since then, things have turned sour. Dallas shut the Blackhawks out 4-0, Montreal beat them 4-1, and Florida escaped United Center with a 3-2 victory Sunday. Chicago has managed just three goals over those last three games. For the season, the Blackhawks are scoring 2.18 goals per contest and allowing 3.91. They're taking only 21.4 shots per game, leaving little room for mistakes when chances don't turn into goals.

Patrick Kane leads Chicago with seven points, although six have come from assists. Anton Frondell has one goal and five assists, while Teuvo Teravainen, Tyler Bertuzzi and Connor Bedard have five points each. Roman Kantserov leads the team with four goals, and Frank Nazar has scored three. Spencer Knight has carried most of the work in net, going 3-6-0 with a 3.48 GAA and .890 save percentage. Arvid Soderblom is 0-2-0, with a 4.58 GAA and .820 save percentage. Chicago's power play has converted only 8.3% of its opportunities.

Injuries: Bowen Byram is out.

Key To The Game

Both clubs have struggled to score, but Los Angeles has an added challenge after Monday's road game in New York. Chicago needs to generate more shots, while the Kings must limit mistakes on a penalty kill sitting at 65.5%.

Los Angeles Kings vs Chicago Blackhawks Game Pick

  • Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles has struggled this season, but its recent wins over Washington and the Islanders show it can find ways to finish close games. Panarin has six goals, and Kempe gives the Kings another capable scorer. Chicago has managed just three goals across its last three outings. The Kings are playing on consecutive nights, which is a concern, but the Blackhawks' lack of scoring tips this matchup toward Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Kings vs Chicago Blackhawks Over/Under Pick

  • Under

Chicago has scored only three goals in its last three games, while Los Angeles has been held to one goal in three of its past five contests. Neither power play has been productive, and the Blackhawks are averaging just 21.4 shots. The Kings also arrive after playing Monday in New York, giving them little recovery time. With both offenses struggling to create chances, the under is the pick Tuesday night.
