Can the Predators keep their red-hot start going?
The Nashville Predators came into the 2025/26 campaign with low expectations after a disappointing run a year ago, but after picking up a win in their first road game of the season, they've managed to come away with points in all three games they've played this season. Through those three games, the Predators are getting plenty of production up and down the lineup, with Erik Haula, Jonathan Marchessault and Filip Forsberg at a point-per-game, with a further four players putting up two points through those three games.
In net for Nashville in this matchup will be backup Justus Annunen, who will make his first start this season after combining to put together a 3.19 GAA and an .883 save percentage through 34 games with Colorado and Nashville a season ago. Last time out for the Predators was a big win over the Ottawa Senators, with two goals to Marchessault leading the offense as Juuse Saros stopped 31 of the 32 shots he saw on the day, leading the team to a big 4-1 victory.
Can the Maple Leafs find some early consistency?
The Toronto Maple Leafs had a rollercoaster off-season, but with a roster that's ready to perform on paper, they've been off to a rough start, losing their only game played at home through three games thus far in 2025/26. Unsurprisingly, it's been the Leafs' top stars to lead them early in the year, with both William Nylander and Morgan Rielly posting four points each, with a further 10 players posting at least one point thus far.
For Toronto on Tuesday, they'll turn to Cayden Primeau, who struggled a year ago in Montreal through 11 appearances, posting a 4.70 GAA and an .836 save percentage before spending most of the year down in the AHL with the Laval Rocket. Last time out for the Maple Leafs was a tight loss against the Detroit Red Wings, with Matthew Knies' two points making him the standout performer in this one as Anthony Stolarz allowed three goals on 15 shots as the team fell 3-2.
Nashville Predators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs picks
Moneyline pick for Predators vs. Maple Leafs
- Toronto -1.5 (4 units)
Both of these teams have played three games early in the season, and while they've had very different results to this point, this is still a Maple Leafs team with the major edge in talent, with both teams turning to their backup goaltenders in this one.
Not only did the Maple Leafs win their matchup against the Predators in Toronto a year ago, but they've won four straight games against Nashville at home, and with the team threatening to break out, expect them to pick up a massive win on Tuesday.
Over/under pick for Predators vs. Maple Leafs
- Under 7 (4 units)
Neither of these teams will have their best goaltender in net as they both play on the second night of a back-to-back, but a year ago, there were a total of 12 goals in their two matchups, with the under now being 7-3 in their last 10 head-to-head encounters.
For the Predators, the under is 3-0 this season, with a total of just five goals allowed in those three games, and for the Maple Leafs, the under comes in at 2-1, with just five total goals scored in their last two games.
Keep it simple, take the under.
