Nobody does it better when it comes to NHL picks!

Devils Look to Take it to the Avs on the Road this Time

In their last game, the Devils were at home in a 4-3 OT win over the Avalanche. Jack Hughes has two goals, including the game-winner in overtime. Arseny Gritsyuk and Connor Brown also lit the lamp, and Simon Nemec had three assists. Jake Allen (5-0-0 1.93 GAA) remained perfect on the season, stopping 21 of 24 shots, and he has not given up more than three goals in any of his six starts. If Allen does not go, Jacob Markstrom (2-1-0 3.89 GAA) wil,l and he dressed as the backup goalie in the last game after missing nearly two weeks due to injury.

Early on this season, New Jersey has shone on both sides of the ice, leading the league in averaging 3.89 goals per game and ranking tied for fourth in goals against per game (2.44). Hughes is tied for the league lead with eight goals, leads the Devils with 12 points, and has seven goals, including a hat trick and two assists in the last five games. Jesper Bratt ranks second on the team with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) and over the last five games has two goals and four assists. The Devils are tied with the Utah Mammoth for the most points, and on the season, they are 3-1-0 on the road.

Close Does not Cut it for the Avalanche

The Avalanche have played it close in their last four games, but lost all fou,r with two coming in overtime and one in a shootout. In the loss to the Devils in their last game, they had the same number of shots (24), and Valeri Nichushkin, Nathan MacKinnon, and Brock Nelson scored a goal. Trent Miner (0-0-2 2.12 GAA) gave up four goals in his fourth career appearance. Scott Wedgewood (5-1-2 2.42 GAA) may be back in between the pipes to face the Devils, and he has given up a total of 10 goals in his last three starts, which were all losses. Mackenzie Blackwood (28-21-6 2.55 GAA last season) is listed as day-to-day and has not had a start this season, due to injury, but may return for this game.

Devils vs. Avalanche Pick

Money Line pick for Devils vs. Avalanche

  • Pick: Devils (+4 Units)

The Devils are the hottest team in the league, winners of eight in a row, while the Avalanche have lost their last four games. The Devils were at home in their last game, where they beat the Avs 4-3 in overtime. They have played well on both sides of the ice this season and lead the league in goals per game. The Avs started the season well, and the main reason was their defense. However, their D has not been sharp in their four-game skid, giving up a total of 16 goals. Regarding the New Jersey Devils vs. Colorado Avalanche prediction, the Devils will take it to the struggling Colorado defense again for their ninth win in a row.

Over/Under Pick for Devils vs. Avalanche

  • Over (+4 Units)

The total for the last game between these teams went over, and that is the pick I am leaning towards in this game. The total has gone over for three of the games in the four losses in a row for the Avalanche, where their defense has struggled, giving up a total of 16 goals. The Devils lead the NHL in goals per game, and they will have another good game on the attack. They have played solid defense as well, but will give up some goals against a Colorado attack that has been solid on the season. This game will see the lamp get lit several times, just like the last game, so the Over is the pick.
