New York Rangers at Calgary Flames Picks and Prediction for Sunday, October 26, 2025

By: Robert Antuann Published 10/26/2025, 03:12 AM ET

The New York Rangers travel to Calgary to face the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday at 8:00 PM ET, with coverage on ESPN+. The Rangers enter this matchup at 3-4-2 after a high-scoring overtime loss, while the Flames sit at 1-7-1 and are winless in their last eight games. New York has been strong on the road at 3-0-1, and Calgary remains without a home win through four games. Net the value: NHL predictions for the New York Rangers at the Calgary Flames with trends that matter.

New York Rangers Look to Continue Road Success

The Rangers have a 3-4-2 record, averaging 2.33 goals per game while allowing 2.33. Adam Fox leads the team with seven points on three goals and four assists, while Taylor Raddysh’s shooting has resulted in a team-high four goals. Artemi Panarin remains the primary playmaker with five assists, including two on the power play. New York has relied on its special teams, converting 16.7% on the man advantage and killing off 86.4% of opposing power plays.

Defensively, the Rangers have played well in front of goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who has a 1.86 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage with one shutout. The Rangers have been effective away from home, allowing just 26.0 shots per game and posting a strong even-goal differential through nine contests. The defense, combined with consistent goaltending, has been the key to success away from Madison Square Garden, where they’ve yet to lose in regulation.

New York’s most recent game was a 6-5 overtime loss to San Jose. The Rangers saw Taylor Raddysh record a hat trick, and Mika Zibanejad and Juuso Parssinen also scored, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Macklin Celebrini’s five-point night for the Sharks. The defeat extended New York’s early home struggles despite improved play by the offense after being limited to one goal in the previous four games at Madison Square Garden.

Injuries:

  • Matt Rempe (C) Day-to-Day – Oct 26
  • Brandon Scanlin (D) Out – Oct 28
  • Vincent Trocheck (C) IR-LT – Nov 4

Calgary Flames Searching for Answers

The Flames have started 1-7-1 and remain winless at home at 0-3-1. Calgary’s offensive struggles are obvious, averaging just 1.67 goals per game while allowing 3.78. Nazem Kadri leads with five points (one goal, four assists), and Blake Coleman has contributed three goals on 21 shots. The team’s power play has converted only 13.2% of opportunities, while the penalty kill has been unreliable at 74.4%, conceding 10 power-play goals already.

Calgary’s defensive issues are due to poor play in front of the crease and goaltending. Dustin Wolf has made eight appearances, posting a 1-6-1 record with a 3.68 goals-against average and .874 save percentage. The Flames have been outshot in most of their recent outings, allowing 29.6 shots per game, and 123 penalty minutes continue to hurt them as the penalty kill is well below the league’s average. Devin Cooley is expected to go for the Flames in net. He's 0-1 with a 2.29 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

In their most recent game, a 5-3 loss at Winnipeg, the Flames showed some better results on attack but failed to contain the Jets’ attack. Blake Coleman, Mikael Backlund, and Nazem Kadri each found the net, but Calgary surrendered goals to five different Winnipeg skaters. Wolf made 27 saves in the defeat, and the loss extended the Flames’ skid to eight straight. They have now dropped consecutive one-goal games at home before the road setback in Winnipeg, and morale is closing in on a new low.

Injuries:

  • Martin Pospisil (C) IR – Oct 26

New York Rangers at Calgary Flames Pick

Spread Pick for Rangers vs. Flames

  •  New York Rangers (-1.5, 4 Units)

The Rangers’ success on defense and strong goaltending give them a clear edge over a Calgary team still trying to solve several issues. With Shesterkin likely starting, New York’s 2.33 goals allowed per game and perfect road record suggest they can control tempo and capitalize on Calgary’s 3.78 goals-against per game. The Flames’ special teams problems and extended losing streak make the odds high for another loss, making the Rangers the side to take on the puckline.

Over/Under Pick for Rangers vs.  Flames

  • Under 5.5 (4 Units)

Neither team has been scoring at a high rate, combining for just 4.0 goals per game on the season. New York’s solid play on defense and Calgary’s ongoing scoring drought make the Under the best play. The Rangers’ recent 6-5 loss is not the norm given their solid defensive play, and Calgary has failed to reach three goals in six of nine games. Expect a lower-paced contest with goals coming at a premium.
