Rangers Rolling on the Road

New York recently defeated the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 4-3. Braden Schneider was the only one with two points for the Rangers, providing a goal and an assist while J.T. The only categories he isn't leading in are +/- and penalty minutes. Vladislav Gavrikov has a +3 to lead the blue-liners and yet he also has six penalty minutes to his name to lead defenders. The Kraken are currently ranked 24th in goals per game, 29th in shots per game, 29th in the face-off circle, and 19th on the power play. Jaden Schwartz leads the Sharks with nine points, including four goals and five assists. Jordan Eberle leads the forwards with a +5, and Schwartz is tied with several others with six penalty minutes thus far into the season. Chandler Stephenson is the only offensive skater to average more than 20 minutes of ice time per game, and nobody has scored more than one goal on the power play this year. Three players, including Mason Marchment and Eberle, have two power-play assists each as well. Eberle also leads the forwards in shots with 24.

Rangers vs Kraken Pick

Spread Pick for Rangers vs Kraken

  • Seattle Kraken Money Line (4 units)

I'm going to roll with the home underdog here. While New York has been terrific on the road thus far, I expect them to regress a bit during the course of the season. Seattle has been quite consistent with their scoring, reaching 3+ goals in each of their last three games while the Rangers will either score 4+ or less than two on most nights. Considering the Rangers rank 30th in goals per game right now and Seattle is a top ten defense in terms of goals against per game, I expect Seattle to do enough on offense to get the win here.

Over/Under pick for Rangers vs Kraken

  • Under 5.5 (4 units)

These two teams are 5-3 on the under when going head-to-head. The Rangers are one of the worst scoring teams overall in the league and Shesterkin is always a formidable presence in net. Daccord is having a decent start to the year with a 2.68 GAA and a 90.5% save percentage while Seattle is a top ten scoring defense right now. If they can do better on the penalty kill, they should be able to hold the Rangers to two goals or less. New York has one of the worst power play units in the league right now and they have scored two goals or less in three of their last five games.
