NHL Picks and Predictions for Friday, October 30, 2026

Three NHL games are on Friday's schedule, and I'm seeing three very different betting situations. New Jersey heads to Las Vegas after a rough loss in Colorado, Winnipeg visits a Florida team that has been much more dependable at home, and Seattle gets an interesting road matchup against Calgary.

The biggest favorite is Florida, but I'm not convinced laying more than -200 on a moneyline is the best way to approach that game. New Jersey and Vegas are practically even, while Seattle and Calgary are separated by very little in the betting market.

Here are my picks for all three games, followed by the NHL Best Bet of the Day. For more hockey predictions, visit our free NHL picks.

Today's NHL Picks

New Jersey Devils vs. Vegas Golden Knights Best Bet

New Jersey comes into Friday at 8-5-0, and the Devils have been playing some pretty good hockey despite Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Colorado. Before that, New Jersey had won four straight, including a 5-1 victory at Dallas and a 3-1 win over Los Angeles. The Devils have been getting enough offense to compete, averaging about 3.3 goals per game, but the defense hasn't always held up against stronger opponents.

Vegas is 9-4-1 and coming off a 4-1 victory over Ottawa. The Golden Knights needed that win after losing three straight, and their offense has been productive throughout the opening month. Vegas is averaging approximately 3.6 goals per game and has converted more than a quarter of its power-play opportunities.

The concern with Vegas is the penalty kill. The Golden Knights have been successful on fewer than 70 percent of their shorthanded situations, which could become a problem if New Jersey gets several power-play opportunities. The Devils haven't been particularly impressive on the power play themselves, but they have enough offensive ability to take advantage of mistakes.

Best Bet: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-113)

I'll take Vegas at home. The Golden Knights have the stronger offensive numbers, and Wednesday's victory over Ottawa was a much-needed response after three disappointing games. New Jersey has been dangerous on the road, so this isn't an easy matchup, but the Devils are also coming off a three-goal loss in Colorado.

The price makes the difference for me. I'm not laying -180 against New Jersey, but -113 is reasonable for a Vegas team that's been scoring more consistently and has home ice. The Devils can absolutely win if they take advantage of Vegas' penalty-killing problems. Still, I prefer the Golden Knights in a close one.

NHL Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (-113)

Winnipeg Jets vs. Florida Panthers Best Bet

Winnipeg comes into Friday at 4-5-3 and has been struggling to put together complete games. The Jets have lost ground in the Central Division, and their offense hasn't been dependable enough to compensate for defensive mistakes. Now they're facing a Florida team that has been much more competitive during the opening month.

The Panthers are 7-4-2 and have been particularly difficult to beat when they control the pace. Florida has enough offensive depth to generate chances throughout the lineup, and its defensive structure gives opponents fewer easy opportunities than Winnipeg has been getting lately.

Florida is favored around -218 on the moneyline, while the Panthers' puck line is available near +114. That's a meaningful difference. The Panthers need to win by two for the puck-line wager to cash, but the plus-money return is considerably more appealing than laying more than two dollars to win one.

Best Bet: Florida Panthers -1.5 Goals (+114)

I'll take Florida on the puck line. Winnipeg has been struggling, and the Panthers have enough offense to build a multiple-goal lead if they control the game early. Florida should generate opportunities against a Jets team that hasn't been defending consistently.

The danger is that Winnipeg's goaltending keeps the game close. A 3-2 Florida victory would win the moneyline but lose this wager. That's the trade-off when taking the puck line. Still, with the Panthers favored so heavily, I'd rather take the plus-money return and ask them to win by two.

NHL Pick: Florida Panthers -1.5 (+114)

Seattle Kraken vs. Calgary Flames Best Bet

Seattle comes into Friday at 8-4-1, and the Kraken have been one of the more competitive teams in the Western Conference. They've shown enough offensive ability to win close games, and their defensive play has generally been more dependable than Calgary's over the opening month.

The Flames are 5-7-0, but they've been playing better recently. Calgary has won four of its last five games, and that makes this a more difficult matchup than the overall record might suggest. The Flames also have home ice, which matters in a game priced close to even money.

Seattle is favored around -115, with Calgary available near +100. The Kraken have the better overall record, but the Flames have been finding ways to win lately. Neither team has enough of an advantage to justify a substantial favorite's price.

Best Bet: Seattle Kraken Moneyline (-115)

I'm taking Seattle at a modest favorite's price. The Kraken have been more consistent over the opening month, and their 8-4-1 record reflects a team that has been able to win different kinds of games. Calgary's recent improvement is worth respecting, but the Flames have still lost seven of their first twelve contests.

The concern is that Calgary continues its recent momentum at home. Four wins in five games isn't something to ignore, and Seattle will need to defend well to avoid giving the Flames easy scoring opportunities. Still, at -115, I prefer the Kraken.

NHL Pick: Seattle Kraken ML (-115)

NHL Best Bet of the Day

Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-113) against the New Jersey Devils is my NHL Best Bet of the Day. Vegas has been the stronger offensive team, averaging approximately 3.6 goals per game, and the Golden Knights are coming off an impressive 4-1 victory over Ottawa.

New Jersey has been playing well and can certainly make this competitive. The Devils' road victories over Dallas and other opponents deserve respect. But Vegas has home ice, the stronger power play and a manageable moneyline price.

I'd rather back the Golden Knights at -113 than pay more than -200 for Florida or ask the Panthers to cover the puck line.

Final Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (-113)

Odds reflect an October 29 market snapshot. Starting goaltenders, injuries and betting prices may change before puck drop. Confirm the final lineups and current odds before placing a wager.
