The Ottawa Senators are fighting through some injury issues early in the season, but with the lineup now finding their balance, they've managed to pick up three straight victories as they're now over .500 early in the year. The Chicago Blackhawks have been struggling for several years now, but with the team going 2-2-1 at home through five games in 2025/26, they've remained surprisingly competitive, going 4-3-2 overall early in the season. Surprisingly, despite being young, the Blackhawks have one of the best defensive groups in the NHL with a 2.44 GAA on the season, and while an offense averaging 2.89 goals per game needs some small improvements, this is a team that may remain competitive in 2025/26.
Unsurprisingly, it's the duo of Frank Nazar and Connor Bedard with nine and eight points leading the way as their young core appears to finally be taking the leap that this organization desperately needed as they look to end their lengthy rebuild. Last time out for the Blackhawks was a tough loss to the Los Angeles Kings, with Bedard tallying the only goal on the night as Arvid Soderblom's 19 saves weren't enough to get the job done as they fell in a tight one 3-1.
Expected starting goaltender: Spencer Knight (1.97 GAA and a .937 save percentage in six games played).
