Can the Flyers recapture some momentum?
This Philadelphia Flyers team made some major changes in the off-season, and as a result, they were optimistic heading into the 2025/26 campaign, but with a 0-2-1 record in three games away from home this season, they've still got plenty of work to do. Offensively, the Flyers have struggled to score goals all season as they currently have a 2.58 average, but with the team also having a GAA of 2.58, they've managed to grind their way to several big victories this season.
In 2025/26, Philadelphia has had some very impressive performers, with Trevor Zegras having 13 points in 12 games played, but beyond that, they've got solid depth without star power to produce and lead them to consistent victories. Last time out for the Flyers was a tough loss to the Calgary Flames, with the lone goal to Travis Konecny not enough to get the job done as Aleksei Kolosov allowed two goals on 21 shots as they would end up falling 2-1 at home.
Expected starting goaltender: Dan Vladar (2.11 GAA and a .924 save percentage in seven games).

Can the Canadiens continue their red-hot start?
Coming into 2025/26, the Montreal Canadiens were the talk of the town in the NHL, and on the back of a 4-1-0 record at home thus far, they're shaping up to be the Stanley Cup contenders that many people expected them to be this season. With their young core, the Canadiens have the second best offense in the NHL as they average 3.67 goals a night, and while the goaltending ranks 15th in the league with a 3.00 GAA, they've done enough to remain dominant early in the season.
Unsurprisingly, it's the four most important young players in Montreal leading the way to this point, with Nick Suzuki (18 points), Cole Caufield (15), Lane Hutson (11) and Ivan Demidov (10) starting the season in red-hot form. Last time out for the Canadiens was a tight home win over the Ottawa Senators, with two points each to Suzuki and Caufield leading the way as Sam Montembeault made a solid 14 saves, leading them to a dramatic 4-3 victory.
Expected starting goaltender: Sam Montembeault (3.66 GAA and an .839 save percentage in six games).
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Montreal Canadiens picks
Moneyline pick for Flyers vs. Canadiens
- Montreal -165 (5 units)
Simply put, this young Canadiens team is one of, if not the best, in the Eastern Conference this season, and with the team going 4-1-0 at home this season, they've made the Bell Centre a fortress that no opposing team wants to play in.
On top of that, they are 6-4 in their last 10 head-to-head matchups with Philadelphia, including wins in four of their last five, and with four straight wins at home in this rivalry, expect them to come out on top in this one.
Over/under pick for Flyers vs. Canadiens
- Over 6 (4 units)
These two teams met three times a year ago, and in that time, there was an average of seven goals scored, and with the over being 6-4 in their last 10 head-to-head encounters, expect plenty of goals to be scored in this one.
For the Flyers, the over sits at 5-5 in their last 10 overall games, with three or more goals scored in five of those matchups, and for the Canadiens, the over comes in at 6-3-1 in their past 10, with four goals a game scored in their last five played at home.
Keep it simple, take the over.
