San Jose Sharks vs Dallas Stars Picks and Prediction for Saturday November 7 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 11/07/2026, 12:50 AM ET

San Jose heads to Dallas on Saturday night for an 8 PM ET game against the Stars at American Airlines Center. The Sharks have to play Minnesota on Friday, then travel to Texas for another game the following night. Not much fun there. Dallas has been playing much better defensively, and the Stars already shut out San Jose 5-0 earlier this season. I’m not saying another shutout is coming, but the Sharks have a pretty big problem on their hands. Be ready for all the NHL games with our free NHL picks.

San Jose Sharks Have Been Giving Up Too Much

San Jose is 7-9-1 heading into Friday’s game at Minnesota. The Sharks just got hammered 7-2 by Los Angeles on Wednesday, their third straight loss. They’ve also lost to Ottawa and Calgary during that stretch. San Jose has had a few good offensive nights, but the defense keeps putting it in trouble.

The Sharks have scored 43 goals in 17 games and allowed 60. That’s about 2.5 goals scored and 3.5 allowed per night. That’s not a good combination, especially when you’re facing a Dallas team that has been excellent at keeping the puck out of its net. San Jose has also been having trouble generating dangerous chances. The Sharks are near the bottom of the league in high-danger shots, and Dallas isn’t going to give them many easy opportunities.

The other problem is the schedule. San Jose has to play Friday, travel overnight, and face a rested Dallas team Saturday. That’s tough on anybody, let alone a club that’s already been struggling defensively. Kyle Keyser remains unavailable with an upper-body injury, which affects the goaltending depth. The Sharks need a much cleaner defensive game than they’ve been getting lately.

Dallas Stars Have Been Tough to Score Against

Dallas is 9-5-2 after losing 2-1 to Columbus on Thursday. The Stars have been getting pretty good results overall, but that loss was a reminder that their offense isn’t always dependable. Dallas has won seven of its last 10, and it’s been doing most of that work with defense.

The Stars have scored 44 goals in 16 games, averaging 2.75 per night. They’ve allowed only 36, or 2.25 per game. That’s one of the best defensive numbers in hockey. Dallas doesn’t have to score five to win. Against San Jose, the Stars should have a good chance to control the puck and force the Sharks into difficult shots. Dallas also has the advantage in the faceoff circle, which should help it control possession.

The Stars are dealing with a few injuries of their own. Miro Heiskanen is out with an upper-body issue, while Matt Duchene remains unavailable following abdominal surgery. Sam Steel and Oskar Back are also out. Those absences affect the depth, but Dallas has been defending well enough to win without a full lineup. The Stars have already beaten San Jose 5-0 this season, and I like their chances again.

San Jose Sharks vs Dallas Stars Picks and Prediction

Moneyline Pick: Dallas Stars

I’m taking Dallas. The Stars are the better defensive team, they’re at home, and San Jose has to play for the second straight night. That’s three pretty good reasons right there. Dallas is allowing only 2.25 goals per game, while the Sharks are giving up about 3.5. San Jose could hang around if Dallas struggles to finish its chances, and the Stars have had some games like that. But I think Dallas controls enough of the play to get the win.

Total Pick: Under 6.5 Goals

Give me the under 6.5 if that’s the number. Dallas has been allowing only 2.25 goals per game, and San Jose isn’t generating enough quality offense to make me think it’ll score four or five. The Stars have also been involved in a lot of lower-scoring games lately. The danger is San Jose’s defense falling apart and Dallas scoring five by itself. That’s certainly possible. But I think Dallas wins something like 4-1 or 4-2, and that keeps us under.

Final Picks: Dallas Stars Moneyline | Under 6.5 Goals (if available)
