San Jose Sharks vs Minnesota Wild Pick and Prediction October 26th, 2025

By: Seamus Cole Published 10/26/2025, 10:44 AM ET

The Minnesota Wild will host the Sharks on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. EST in the Xcel Energy Center. Check out our San Jose Sharks vs Minnesota Wild pick and prediction here!

While it is still early in the season, the Sharks are 7th in the Pacific division with four points through eight games played. They are 0-2-2 at home and 1-3 on the road, hoping to avoid a two-game losing streak here. Meanwhile, the Wild are sitting at the bottom of the Central Division with only seven points through nine games. They are 1-2 at home and 2-3-1 on the road this season. Minnesota will want to do everything it can to avoid a three-game losing streak with a win here. Minnesota is heavily favored at a -212 money line while the total is set at an even six goals. Can the Wild avoid a three-game losing streak with a home win?

Mayhem in Minnesota

Minnesota fell to the Utah Mammoth by a score of 6-2 in their latest matchup. Marcus Johansson scored both goals for the Wild, and four different players had an assist in the effort. Joel Eriksson Ek had the most shots on the day with five, and Filip Gustavsson stopped 35 of 40 shots.

As expected, Kirill Kaprizov has the highest number of points on the season thus far with 11. However, he is tied with Matt Boldy as well, with both players earning five goals and six assists. Nobody among the offensive skaters has a positive +/- ratio, and Marcus Foligno has an offense-high 11 penalty minutes to his name. Boldy has the most ice time on average at 19:40, and he has a team-high 37 shots. Kaprizov has the most power-play goals with four, and Vladimir Tarasenko has a team-high four power-play assists. As a unit, the offense ranks 30th in goals scored, 4th on the power play, 9th in shots per game, and 20th in the face-off circle.

Zeev Buium has the most points among defenders for the Wild with seven. No defender has more than one goal scored on the season, and Buium has six assists to his name. Zach Bogosian has a team-high +3 on the season, and Jake Middleton has 15 penalty minutes on the year. Buium's only goal came on the power play, and four of his six assists came on the power play as well. Brock Faber leads the defenders with 18 shots on the season. Filip Gustavsson remains the #1 option in goal for the Wild, and he carries a 3.34 GAA with an 89.7% save percentage. In total, the Wild are ranked 28th in goals against, 30th on the penalty kill, and 28th in shots against. Bogosian, Mats Zuccarello, and Nico Sturm are all on the injury report and all are out for this upcoming contest.

San Jose Still Stinks

The Sharks most recently lost to the Devils by a score of 3-1. William Eklund scored the only goal for the Sharks, and Macklin Celebrini had the only assist in the effort. The latter of the two led the squad in shots with four, and Yaroslav Askarov made 26 of 28 possible saves on the day.

The Sharks are currently ranked 22nd in goals per game, 31st in shots per game, 15th in the face-off circle, and 13th on the power play. Celebrini leads the Sharks with five goals and seven assists, but Williams Eklund barely has the highest number of shots per game with 22. Collin Graf is the only forward with a positive +/- ratio, and Ryan Reaves has ten penalty minutes to his name. Celebrini is the only offensive skater to average more than 20 minutes of ice time per game, and he has a team-high two power play goals. He is also tied for the lead in power-play assists among forwards with two.

On the defensive side, Dmitry Orlov is the most productive one with seven points (all assists) and twelve shots. John Klingberg and Mario Ferraro each have a goal to their name, and Orlov has a team-high +1. Vincent Desharnais has 16 penalty minutes on the season, and Orlov has averaged over 23 minutes of ice time per game thus far. Klingberg is the only defender to score on the power play this season, and Orlov has three power-play assists. In net, the combination of Alex Nedeljkovic and Akarov has teamed up to split duties. They each have played in four games, but the former has the better numbers with a 4.00 GAA and an 87.5% save percentage. Overall, the Sharks rank dead last in goals against per game, 28th on the penalty kill, and dead last in shots against per game. Klingberg and two other defenders are listed on the injury report for the Sharks. Klingberg is day-to-day while the other two are out.

Sharks vs Wild Pick

Spread Pick for Maple Sharks vs Wild

  • Minnesota Wild -1.5 (4 units)

At first glance, I thought I could make a play on the Sharks' money line, but I looked a little deeper and reality hit. Just because the Wild are at the bottom of their division mean they are on the same level as the Sharks. Gustavsson has struggled a bit, but he can inspire confidence and have a solid performance on a given night. I do not trust either goalie for the Sharks to do that. Minnesota has won their last seven in a row against the Sharks and five of those wins were by more than one goal. The key difference is I expect the Wild to bounce back, considering they were a playoff team last year, and nobody on the Sharks can match the skill of Kaprizov. I'll take the Wild with a comfortable home win here.

Over/Under pick for Sharks vs Wild

  • Under 6 (4 units)

The Wild have a lethal weapon in Kaprizov, but this team is not well-known for their scoring prowess. The Sharks are another example of that. San Jose has scored one goal or less in three of their last six games, and while Minnesota has scored a total of ten goals across their last six games, averaging less than two goals per game. While San Jose's defense is bad and Minnesota's is mediocre, I don't expect either team to have a good offensive performance here. I expect Gustavsson to bounce back at some point and earn a solid victory in net by giving up fewer than 2-3 goals.
