Use Code SSWC The Kraken are traveling to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, for their matchup against the Canadiens; keep reading for our Kraken versus Canadiens prediction. Seattle is second in the Pacific Division with a record of 2-0-0. Montreal is third in the Atlantic Division with a record of 2-1-0. The Canadiens had a record of 0-1-1 against the Kraken in 2024-25. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. Nobody does it better when it comes to NHL picks!
Kraken’s Stalwart Goaltending
The Kraken are traveling to Montreal after another win on Saturday versus the Golden Knights with a final score of 2-1. The Kraken remain undefeated as they head onto their first road series of the season, which will be a lengthy five-game road trip starting off with their game on Tuesday versus the Canadiens.
Seattle last season struggled with allowing goals as they ranked 23rd in save percentage at .888. While there has not been a change in goaltending, the quality of the first two starts for goaltender Joey Daccord has led to two divisional wins. So far this season, Daccord has a save percentage of .968 and a goals against average of 0.96 across his two games played. What is more impressive is that he is posting these stats despite his team allowing far too many shots on net. In their first two games of the season, the Kraken have averaged 31.5 shots allowed per game. While this is impressive, I do not believe this will be sustainable for the rest of the season, and sooner or late,r we should see the goaltending start to regress for the Kraken.
We will likely see Joey Daccord get the start in net versus the Canadiens on Tuesday.

Canadiens’ Offense Improves
The Canadiens are returning home after their win on Saturday versus the Blackhawks with a final score of 3-2. The Canadiens would end a three-game road trip to start their series with a 2-1 record. Montreal is now returning home for their home opener on Tuesday against Seattle and begins a four-game home stand.
Last season the Canadiens struggled with producing goals as they ranked 17th in scoring. Their offense was not generated from their power play, which sat 21st overall at 20.1% nor their number of shots, averaging 25.5 shots per game (30th). What kept the Montreal offense alive last season was their shooting percentage, which ranked seventh in the league at 11.6%. Without the quality shooting they had, the Canadiens would not have been able to make it to the postseason like they did. In their first three games, we see an improvement not in their shots per game but rather their special teams, as they currently have a power-play percentage of 20%. If Montreal can sustain this quality in special teams, I suspect they will reach the postseason yet again and be more trouble to deal with this time around.
We are likely to see Sam Montembeault get the start in net for the Canadiens in their home opener on Tuesday.
Sam Montembeault:
- had a record of 31-24-7 in 62 games with a goals against average of 2.82 and a save percentage of .901 in 2024-25.
- is 1-2-1 in 4 games with a goals against average of 3.82 and a save percentage of .889 against the Kraken in his career.
Injuries:
No injuries to report.
Kraken versus Canadiens Picks and Predictions
Money Line Pick for Kraken vs. Canadiens
- Kraken Money Line (+138) (4 units)
The Kraken have a record of 3-1-0 against the Canadiens on the road. Sam Montembeault has a record of 1-2-1 in 4 games with a goals against average of 3.82 and a save percentage of .889 versus the Kraken at home in his career. Joey Daccord has a record of 1-0-0 in 1 game with a goals against average of 2.01 and a save percentage of .933 for the Kraken against the Canadiens on the road in his career. The mismatch in net for this game is leading me already to pick Seattle, but Montreal’s offense requires bad goaltending to succeed on offense. The Canadiens rely too heavily on their quality of shooting and not their volume. Daccord will likely shut down the Montreal offense, which will lead us to the Kraken upsetting the home favorites.
Over/Under Pick for Kraken vs Canadiens
- Over 6.5 (+114) (3 units)
The Canadiens have an over/under record of 5-1-2 against the Kraken. Montreal has shown great prowess to start their season when it comes to their offense, but I do not believe they will be able to produce enough goals to outscore the Kraken. Seattle has thrived in their career against Sam Montembeault, and with him in the net, I suspect that Seattle will have no issue contributing to a good majority of this over. This is going to be a close game, which may even go to overtime, which should help us reach our over. Montreal will also be extra motivated to score and perform well in front of their fans in their home opener.
