The Blues are second-to-last in the Central Division with a record of 4-3-1. The Penguins are second in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 6-2-1. The Penguins had a record of 1-0-1 against the Blues in 2024-25. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT. Nobody does it better when it comes to NHL picks!
Blues’ Goaltending Remains An Issue
The Blues are heading to Pittsburgh after another loss on Saturday versus the Red Wings with a final score of 6-4. This is the third loss in a row for the Blues and their fourth loss in the last five games. St. Louis is looking to wrap up a short two-game road trip on a high note with a win on Monday before heading back home for a two-game home stand.
St. Louis is 26th in goals allowed this season and this is less due to their defense and more due to their poor goaltending. The Blues are last in the league in save percentage at .841 despite their defense only allowing 26.00 shots per game. To combat their poor goaltending, the Blues have attempted to generate more offense, specifically on special teams, where they rank ninth in power-play percentage at 25.0%. This has not been enough as the Blues rank only 22nd in scoring.
We will likely see Jordan Binnington get the start in net for the Blues on Monday.
Jordan Binnington:
- is 2-3-1 in 7 games with a goals against average of 3.12 and a save percentage of .872 this season.
- had a 28-22-5 record in 56 games with a goals against average of 2.69 and a save percentage of .900 in 2024-25.
- is 3-4-1 in 9 games with a goals against average of 3.41 and a save percentage of .906 versus the Penguins in his career.
Injuries:
- Thomas C Day To Day - Upper Body
- Toropchenko RW Day To Day - Upper-body

Penguins Find Reliability In Net
The Penguins are coming off a loss on Saturday versus the Blue Jackets in overtime with a final score of 5-4. This loss would break up a four-game win streak the Penguins had amassed but still remain undefeated in regulation in their last five. Pittsburgh is wrapping up a two-game home stand before heading on a lengthy road trip starting on Tuesday against Philadelphia.
Last season, the Penguins finished 28th in save percentage at .884, and this was largely due to the Penguins relying too much on goaltender Tristan Jarry. This year has been different with the offseason addition of goaltender Artur Silovs to the lineup. With the goaltending addition, they have now turned into an A and B goalie tandem, opposed to a starter and backup. This reliability in net has been what the Penguins have needed. The Penguins currently sit third in the league in save percentage at .918%.
It is unclear who we will see start in net, but we may likely see Tristan Jarry get the start in net for the Penguins on Monday.
Tristan Jarry:
- has a 3-1-0 record in 4 games with a goals against average of 2.52 and a save percentage of .921 this season.
- had a record of 16-12-6 in 36 games with a goals against average of 3.12 and a save percentage of .892 in 2024-25.
- has a record of 7-1-1 in 9 games with a goals against average of 2.35 and a save percentage of .910 versus the Blues in his career.
Injuries:
- Rakell RW Out - Upper Body
- Jones D Out - Lower-body
- Blomqvist G Out - Lower-body
- Hayes RW Out - Upper-body
- Howe LW Out - ACL
Blues vs/ Penguins Picks and Prediction
Money Line Pick for Blues vs. Penguins
- Penguins Money Line (+102) (5 units)
The Penguins have a record of 7-1-1 in their last nine games versus the Blues. Tristan Jarry has a record of 5-0-0 in 5 games with a goals against average of 1.58 and a save percentage of .947 against the Blues at home in his career. Jarry is going to be a huge factor in this game as the Blues have struggled severely against him in his career. The Blues are already having issues generating offense and without any reliable offense going up against the impressive goaltending of Jarry, we should see a one-sided game. I am taking the Penguins to pick up the win at home.
Over/Under Pick for Blues vs. Penguins
- Over 5.5 (-130) ( 5 units)
The Blues had an over/under record of 7-2 as favorites on the road in 2024-25. While I do believe the Blues are going to struggle in producing any goals against the Penguins’ goaltending, I believe we should see a high-scoring game in this one. Largely due to the poor goaltending of the Blues. Jordan Binnington is 1-4-0 in 5 games with a goals against average of 4.15 and a save percentage of .887 versus the Penguins on the road in his career. I believe the Penguins alone can get us over this total with very little help from the Blues.
