Vegas Golden Knights vs Detroit Red Wings Picks and Prediction for Thursday November 5 2026
Vegas heads into Detroit on Thursday night for a 7 PM ET game against the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. The Golden Knights just got past Pittsburgh 3-2 on Tuesday, while Detroit took a 4-2 loss against Tampa Bay. Neither game was a blowout, but Vegas has been doing a better job of coming out on the right side of these close ones. The Wings are home, and that should help. Still, I’ve got a hard time talking myself into Detroit here. Get ready for all the action with our free NHL picks.
Vegas Golden Knights Keep Picking Up Wins
Vegas is 10-5-2 after beating Pittsburgh on Tuesday. That one wasn’t settled until late, and the Golden Knights walked away with another road victory. That’s the kind of game good teams find a way to win. Doesn’t have to be pretty. Two points count the same whether you dominate for 60 minutes or steal one near the end.
The Golden Knights are scoring around 3.4 goals per game. That’s a healthy number, and they’ve got enough offense to take advantage when somebody makes a mistake. Detroit has been giving up chances, so Vegas should get some decent looks Thursday. The one thing I’d worry about is the Golden Knights getting a little loose defensively themselves. They’ve had games where the other team has been allowed to hang around longer than it should.
But I like the way Vegas has been handling these road games. The Golden Knights don’t seem particularly bothered when things get tight. They can play a physical game, take their chances when they come, and get out of town with a win. Detroit is going to have to make them uncomfortable from the opening faceoff.
Detroit Red Wings Have Some Work to Do
Detroit is 7-6-3 after losing to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The Wings gave up four goals, and that’s not what you want heading into another game against a team that can score. They’ve been hanging around .500 for a reason. One night the defense looks fine, the next night they’re chasing somebody around their own zone.
The Red Wings are scoring around 2.9 goals per game. That’s enough to win some nights, but it doesn’t leave much room for a bad defensive performance. If Vegas gets three or four, Detroit is probably going to have to play one of its better offensive games just to keep up. And I haven’t seen enough consistency from the Wings to feel comfortable counting on that.
Now, Detroit can win this game. They’re home, and Vegas isn’t some unbeatable machine. Get a couple of early goals, make the Golden Knights chase things, and suddenly it’s a different conversation. But that’s the problem with picking Detroit. You’re asking the Wings to play a really good game against a team that’s been finding ways to win even when it isn’t at its best.
Vegas Golden Knights vs Detroit Red Wings Picks and Prediction
Moneyline Pick: Vegas Golden Knights
I’m going with Vegas. Detroit has a shot, especially if it gets off to a good start, but the Golden Knights have been the more dependable club. They just won a tight one in Pittsburgh, and I think they can do something similar here. The Wings have been giving up too many chances, and Vegas has enough offense to make those mistakes hurt. I wouldn’t lay some ridiculous price on the Golden Knights, but straight up, they’re the team I trust more.
Total Pick: Under 6.5 Goals
I’ll take the under 6.5 if that’s the line. Vegas just won 3-2 in Pittsburgh, and Detroit’s game against Tampa Bay finished 4-2. I can see another game where both teams get their chances but neither runs away with it. The Wings should be trying to clean up the defensive mistakes from Tuesday, and Vegas doesn’t need five goals to win. Could this turn into a 5-3 game? Sure. Detroit has had some rough defensive nights. But I’m thinking something closer to 3-2 or 4-2. Give me the under.
Final Picks: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline | Under 6.5 Goals (if available)
