New York was led by first-overall pick defenseman Matthew Schaefer, who scored his first career NHL goal, while Anthony Duclair had the other. Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri added two assists each. The Islanders are averaging 2.5 goals per game while allowing four goals per game.
New York is expected to start Ilya Sorokin in net, who is 0-2 with a 4.21 GAA and a .860 SV% thus far. The Russian struggled against the Capitals as he made 25 saves on 29 shots, and Sorokin will look to rebound against the Jets. Sorokin is 3-2 with a 2.03 GAA and a .932 SV% in his career against the Jets.
