Steelers Led by Aaron Rodgers
Pittsburgh made the playoffs last season and enters the 2025 NFL season with a new look offense. The Steelers have Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback, while Pittsburgh added DK Metcalf to the receiver room and signed CB Darius Slay. Rodgers had a strong second of the 2024 season with the Jets and wound up with 3,897 yards, 28 TDs and 11 picks. Even if he's not in his MVP form, he should still be an upgrade at the quarterback spot over Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Pittsburgh did trade away Minkah Fitzpatrick and George Pickens, but did acquire TE Jonnu Smith and CB Jalen Ramsey. The Ramsey pickup should improve a secondary that needed some help and has to face some elite offenses in the AFC North twice a year (Cincy, Baltimore).
The Steelers averaged 22.35 points per game last season, while rushing for 127.41 yards per game. Pittsburgh's running back room will be led by Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson. Defensively, Pittsburgh allowed 20.4 points per game, while allowing 244.17 passing yards per game and 98.7 rushing yards per game.

Jets Looking to Snap Playoff Drought
New York failed to make the playoffs again last season, extending its drought to 14 seasons. The Jets had an active offseason, as New York signed Justin Fields to a two-year deal to be the starting quarterback. Fields brings a live arm and a ton of athletic ability to the Big Apple. Last season, he played in 10 games with the Steelers, throwing for 1,106 yards with five TDs and a pick before getting hurt. He also had 289 yards rushing with five scores for the Steelers.. New York also added depth players like safety Andre Cisco, cornerback Brandon Stephens, and defensive tackles Byron Cowart and Jay Tufele.
The Jets struggled offensively last season, averaging 19.8 points per game, while averaging 236.2 passing yards per game and 91.8 rushing yards per game, which ranked 31st in the NFL. New York allowed 23.76 points per game, which ranked 20th, while allowing 121.11 rushing yards per game and 211.05 passing yards per game.
Steelers vs. Jets Pick
Spread Pick for Steelers vs. Jets
- Steelers ML -162 (5 Units)
Despite Pittsburgh opening the season on the road, this is a great spot for the Steelers to get the win. Pittsburgh is a 3-point favorite, but with the money line being under -175, it's the better way to go, as I do expect Pittsburgh to win by a field goal. The Steelers' defense is very familiar with Justin Fields, so Pittsburgh's defense should have success limiting his scrambling and running ability, while passing the ball, he leaves a lot to be desired. Rodgers, meanwhile, has a chip on their shoulder facing his former team and did play well down the stretch last season. The difference here will be the Steelers' defense, which will limit New York's offense to get Pittsburgh out to a 1-0 start.
Take Steelers ML at -162.
Over/Under Pick for Steelers vs. Jets
- Under 38.5 -112 (4 Units)
The under is also a great spot here as Pittsburgh and New York had great defenses last season, and defense should be the strength of this game. Meanwhile, both teams will look to run the ball often, which will help the clock run and limit the number of scores. Both teams' offenses feature plenty of new weapons, so chemistry could be an issue early on which will help the under cash.
Take the under.
