Manchester United Still Searching for a Win

United haven't won a league game since August 30, when they beat Ipswich. Since then, the Red Devils have drawn with Fulham, Tottenham and Leeds, all by 1-1 scores. Their Champions League performances haven't been much better. United lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid before Wednesday's 4-1 defeat in Italy against Como. They've scored 10 goals and conceded 10 in seven Premier League matches, but too many of those games have ended without three points. The latest defeat in Europe has only added to the frustration around Old Trafford.

Bryan Mbeumo has done his part offensively, scoring four times in seven Premier League appearances. Bruno Fernandes has added three goals, while Matheus Cunha leads United with two assists. The Red Devils have recorded 1.61 expected goals per league match and allowed 1.41. Creating opportunities hasn't been their biggest problem, although the goals haven't come often enough. United also have several injuries to deal with, including the absences of Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez. They'll need more from their attacking players against a Bournemouth team that arrives in better form.

Injuries: Ayden Heaven, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Mainoo, Martinez, Manuel Ugarte, Benjamin Sesko and Patrick Dorgu are unavailable.

Bournemouth Have Finally Found Some Form

Bournemouth waited until last weekend to collect their first Premier League victory. The Cherries beat 10-man Sunderland after taking the lead on either side of halftime, then followed that result with a 3-0 Europa League win over AC Milan on Thursday. Three straight clean sheets across competitions have given Bournemouth something to build on. The league record remains modest, with one win in seven and 13 goals conceded, but recent performances have been better. United's problems make this an opportunity for Bournemouth to take something away from Old Trafford.

Marcus Tavernier leads Bournemouth with four league goals, while Evanilson has scored twice and supplied four assists. Bournemouth average 1.86 expected goals per league match but have scored just 1.29, an indication that plenty of opportunities haven't turned into goals. At the other end, they've allowed 1.86 goals per game despite an expected-goals-against figure of 1.14. The defensive improvement over the last three matches matters here. Still, facing Mbeumo and Fernandes at Old Trafford brings a different challenge from protecting a lead against 10 men.

Injuries: Julian Araujo, Veljko Milosavljevic, Alex Scott and Junior Kroupi are unavailable.

Key To The Game

United have drawn three straight league games, while Bournemouth have put together clean sheets in all competitions. The visitors need to keep Mbeumo quiet and make use of Evanilson's passing. United need sharper finishing than they've shown lately.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth Game Pick

  • Bournemouth +0.5

Bournemouth arrive with more confidence than United, especially after winning twice without conceding. The hosts have drawn three straight league matches and then lost heavily to Como. Evanilson has created chances for teammates, and Tavernier has finished four in the league. Bournemouth don't need to dominate possession to trouble this defense. With the draw covered, Bournemouth +0.5 is the play. The Cherries will leave Old Trafford with at least one point.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth Over/Under Pick

  • Over 2.5

United have conceded 10 goals in seven league matches, and Bournemouth have allowed 13. The Cherries look more settled defensively now, but their league games have still featured plenty of openings. Mbeumo and Fernandes give United scoring threats, while Tavernier and Evanilson offer Bournemouth a response. Both clubs have reasons to attack after their difficult league starts. We're taking the over 2.5 goals in Sunday's meeting at Old Trafford.
