A trip to Chelsea last weekend gave Tottenham one of its best results of the season, a 2-0 victory that followed a 3-1 win against Coventry City. Spurs are now 14th in the Premier League, holding a 2-3-3 record and nine points. Crystal Palace has seven points at 2-1-5, leaving the Eagles 17th after a 5-0 loss at Brighton in their latest match. The London clubs meet Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with kickoff at 1:30 pm ET on NBC. Tottenham is -180, Palace +450 and the draw +350. Tottenham Hotspur Have Improved Their Recent Results

Tottenham hasn't lost a league match since Aston Villa won 3-2 in September. There was a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on October 10, then Spurs returned home and beat Coventry City 3-1. Last Saturday brought an even better result, with Chelsea unable to score in a 2-0 Tottenham victory. Spurs had also played out a scoreless draw with Everton earlier in September. Their two recent wins have helped offset a slow opening to the campaign, although the club remains in the bottom half of the standings.

Dominic Solanke, Omar Marmoush and Jan Paul van Hecke have each scored one Premier League goal for Tottenham. Andrew Robertson and Mohammed Kudus have supplied two assists each, while Sandro Tonali has contributed another. Tottenham is averaging 61% possession, but that control hasn't translated into many goals. Spurs have scored eight times in eight league matches and are producing 1.01 expected goals per game. Their defending has been more productive, with three clean sheets and 1.25 goals conceded per contest. Palace's defensive problems could give Tottenham more chances than usual.

Injuries: Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Mykhailo Mudryk, Savio Moreira de Oliveira and Lucas Bergvall are out. Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended. Destiny Udogie and James Maddison are doubtful. Oluwatosin Adarabioyo is questionable.

Crystal Palace Need to Recover From Brighton Defeat

Palace's visit to Brighton on October 18 ended in a miserable 5-0 defeat, their heaviest loss of the season. The Eagles had beaten Nottingham Forest 3-1 the previous weekend, following a goalless draw at Leeds United. Earlier results included a 3-2 home defeat to Ipswich Town and a 3-2 victory at Fulham. Palace has managed only two league wins, and five defeats have left the club dangerously close to the relegation places. Saturday's trip offers another difficult challenge against a Tottenham side gaining confidence.

Tyrick Mitchell leads Palace with two league goals, while Daichi Kamada has scored once and supplied three assists. Adam Khalaili has also found the net, and Adam Wharton has contributed an assist. Palace averages 1.12 goals per match despite generating 1.34 expected goals. The bigger problem has been defending, with 2.38 goals conceded per contest and only one clean sheet. Opponents are creating 1.84 expected goals against Palace, leaving the visitors vulnerable even when their attack produces something worthwhile.

Injuries: Chadi Riad Dnanou, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Quinten Timber are out. Ismaila Sarr is doubtful. Jorgen Strand Larsen is questionable.

Key To The Game

Tottenham should have more time on the ball, given the difference between Spurs' 61% possession average and Palace's 44%. That doesn't automatically guarantee chances, however, with Tottenham struggling to create opportunities despite controlling possession. Palace needs Kamada to provide service for its attacking players, particularly if Strand Larsen cannot start. Spurs have been considerably stronger defensively, allowing nearly half as many goals as Palace. Set pieces could also matter, with Van Hecke offering Tottenham another scoring threat.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace Game Pick

  • Tottenham Hotspur (-180)

Tottenham's two recent victories make Spurs the stronger choice at home. The win at Chelsea was particularly encouraging, with Tottenham keeping a clean sheet against a dangerous attack. Palace arrives after conceding five at Brighton and has allowed 19 league goals overall. Spurs haven't been prolific themselves, but Marmoush and Solanke should find opportunities against this defense. Palace could trouble Tottenham through Kamada and Mitchell, although its defensive problems are difficult to overlook. I'm taking Tottenham to collect another three points at -180.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace Over/Under Pick

  • Under 2.5 (+135)

Palace has conceded plenty of goals, but Tottenham's attack hasn't been consistently productive. Spurs average just one goal per league game and have recorded three clean sheets. Saturday could follow a similar pattern to their 2-0 victory at Chelsea, especially if Palace struggles to create chances. The Eagles average only 1.12 goals per contest and were shut out in their latest match. Tottenham's defensive record gives the hosts a good chance of controlling the scoring. I expect Spurs to win without a goal-filled afternoon, making under 2.5 my pick.
