Toronto Blue Jays vs Tampa Bay Rays Pick and Prediction September 15th, 2025

By: Seamus Cole Published 09/15/2025, 10:28 AM ET

Toronto looks to maintain their lead in the AL East as they face the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday at 7:35 p.m. EST in Steinbrenner Field. Check out our Toronto Blue Jays vs Tampa Bay Rays pick and prediction here!

Toronto is currently holding a 3.5 game lead over their closest opponent in the AL East with an 87-62 record. They have won four in a row and seven of ten heading into this contest. Meanwhile, the Rays are 4th in the AL East with a 73-76 record. They are 3-7 in their last ten and they are all but mathematically eliminated from this year's playoffs. Toronto is a -130 money line favorite while the total is set at 8.5 runs. Can the Blue Jays keep their lead over the Yankees with a win?

Toronto on Top

The Blue Jays crushed the Orioles in their latest contest, winning by a score of 11-2. George Springer had a homer and two RBI while Addison Barger and Ernie Clement picked up three RBI each on the day. Joey Loperfido also had a pair of RBI to his name and Shane Bieber had a solid outing, giving up only one run in six innings pitched. He struck out five and walked one.

Toronto addressed a couple of key pieces of improvement, acquiring Seranthony Dominguez from the Orioles in exchange for Juaron Watts-Brown, while also receiving Ty France and Louis Varland from the Twins for Alan Roden and Kendry Rojas. Toronto was not finished, though. The Blue Jays also received Brandon Valenzuela for Will Wagner and Shane Bieber for Khal Stephen. Bieber is an intriguing low-risk, high-reward option and Dominguez is a potentially solid bullpen option for October.

Rays Ready for Next Year

Tampa Bay fell to the Chicago Cubs in their most recent effort by a score of 4-3. Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero each hit a solo shot on the day while Josh Lowe provided the extra RBI. Caminero was the only one with multiple hits on the day and Adrian Houser gave up only two runs on six innings pitched while striking out two and walking one. Unfortunately, the bullpen faltered immediately after his outing.

In typical Tampa fashion, the Rays shuffled around several players that don't exactly hinder their team but also puts them in a great position in the next couple of years. To start, Stuart Fairchild was acquired from Atlanta for cash and Bryan Baker was traded to the Rays from Baltimore for a draft pick. The White Sox also traded Tristan Gray to the Rays for cash, and the Marlins traded Nick Fortes for Matthew Etzel. Danny Jansen and cash was sent to the Brewers for Jadher Areinamo. However, the bigger moves were sending Zack Littell to the Reds for Brian Van Belle and Adam Serwinowski along with acquiring Adrian Houser for Curtis Mead, Duncan Davitt, and Ben Peoples. They also traded Jose Caballero to the Yankees for Everson Pereira and either future considerations, a draft pick, or cash. Griffin Jax was acquired from Minnesota for Taj Bradley and Hunter Feduccia was acquired from the Dodgers for Paul Gervase, Adam Serwinowski, and Ben Rortvedt. I'm sure they will have us wondering how they fleeced the other team so badly with some trades like always.

Blue Jays vs Rays Pick

Spread Pick for Blue Jays vs Rays

  • Blue Jays Money Line (5 units)

Simply put, the Rays are almost in a free-fall mode while the Blue Jays are fighting hard to maintain the top spot in the AL East. Toronto has much more motivation to secure a win in this one and they have proven they are at least competent on the road with an even .500 win percentage away from home. Tampa Bay swept Toronto earlier in the year, but I have more confidence in Toronto getting revenge on the Rays, starting with this game.

Over/Under Pick for Blue Jays vs Rays

  • Over 8 Runs (4 units)

It's challenging to make a pick with neither starter confirmed yet, but I still have greater confidence in the over being hit. Obviously if the pitchers are not scheduled yet, it means that neither team is bringing out their top pitchers. The Rays have scored 5+ runs in three of their last six games and Toronto has scored an average of seven runs per game across their current win streak. Toronto is 81-63 on the over this season and both teams average over 4.5 runs scored per game.
