Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever Picks and Predictions, Friday September 5, 2025

The WNBA season is nearing its conclusion, and while not all teams are alive in the post-season, every game means a lot especially for the teams involved in our Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever prediction.

The Chicago Sky (10-30) have one of the biggest names in the WNBA, but to this point, they've failed to find depth around her, and as a result, this is a team that has once again had a disappointing campaign.

On Friday they battle the Indiana Fever (21-20), a team that remains in the playoff race, but after their biggest star revealed she would miss the rest of the season, those hopes have taken a major hit. Read on to see our Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever prediction.

Can the Sky upset a bitter Eastern Conference rival?

The Chicago Sky's season may be all but over, and while they have a dreadful 4-15 record away from home this season, they've got the chance to upset a bitter conference rival in this intriguing matchup. The Sky may have shown some improvement, but with just 76 points scored a night, they rank second last in the WNBA in scoring, and given that their opponents put up 85 per game, it's no surprise that they were one of the first teams eliminated from playoff contention in 2025.

However, the major positive for Chicago this season has been the improvement of Angel Reese, who averages 15, 13, and 4 on 46% shooting from the field, and now, they'll spend the winter trying to put elite-level talent around her. Last time out for the Sky was a dominant win over the Connecticut Sun, with 18 from Reese leading five players in double digits as they held their opponents to just 39% shooting from the field as they picked up a 88-64 victory.

Can the Fever make a post-season run without Caitlin Clark?

Recently, the Indiana Fever were rocked when Caitlin Clark announced a season-ending injury, but with the team having all but clinched a postseason spot already, there's still optimism on the back of an 11-9 home record this season. Even without their top star, the Fever have averaged a solid 84 points this season, and while the defense is below average, allowing 82 per game, they may just have the talent to cause an upset in the playoffs with this current roster.

In Clark's absence, Kelsey Mitchell has stepped up in a big way in 2025, averaging 21 points a night, and with Aliyah Boston contributing 15 points of her own a game, this is a team that's still got plenty of offensive firepower. Last time out for the Fever was a tight loss to the Phoenix Mercury, with 29 from Mitchell not enough to get the job done as they allowed their opponents to shoot 46% from the field, falling 85-79 in a tough performance on the road.

Indiana -11.5 (4 units)

Despite the Fever missing one of their biggest stars, they still have one of the top scorers in the WNBA, but given how well Angel Reese has played as of late, this should be a very tight contest between Eastern Conference rivals.

The one thing working in Indiana's favor is their dominance over the Sky, as they've gone 7-3 in their last 10 head-to-head matchups, including five straight, and after outscoring Chicago by an average of 24 in four games this season, expect them to clinch a post-season spot with a big win here.

Over 158.5 (4 units)

The big strength of the Fever this season has been an offense averaging 84 points a night, and with the Sky allowing 84 of their own, this one should be a very fun, high-scoring contest late in the 2025 season.

For the Sky, the over sits at 5-5 in their last 10 overall games, with 80 or more points allowed in four of their last five on the road, including 92 the last time they played in Indiana, and for the Fever, the over comes in at 5-5 in their past 10, with an average of 88 points scored in their last five at home.

Keep it simple, take the over.
