Monday, April 16th, 2018, Rogers Centre

SP: Skoglund (KC) vs. Garcia (TOR)

The Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays will open a three-game series on Monday in Canada. First pitch is set for 7:07 P.M and will feature two left-handed pitchers starting on the hill.

Royals Struggling in 2018

Through 13 games, the Kansas City Royals have struggled big time. They’ve gone just 3-10 so far, including five straight losses heading into Monday’s contest.

Offensively, the Royals have been sluggish at best. In fact, they rank dead last in the MLB in overall runs scored (39) and No. 27 in on-base percentage. As for their pitching staff, they’ve been a bit better. Overall, the pitching unit ranks No. 20 in team ERA and quality starts.

On Monday, the team will send Eric Skoglund to the hill in hopes of securing his first win of the season. In his first outing, Skoglund was rocked and allowed five runs in 4.2 innings.

Blue Jays Bouncing Back This Year

After taking a step backward in 2017, the Toronto Blue Jays are getting back on the horse in the 2018 season. As it stands now, the Jays are 9-5 and are second in the AL East behind the Boston Red Sox.

The offense for Toronto is really clicking, especially in terms of their power numbers. Thanks to their 20 combined home runs, the Jays rank in the Top 10 in both runs scored and slugging percentage. Their newest addition, Curtis Granderson, is having a bounce-back year and currently leads the team in batting average.

Jaime Garcia will start on Monday for Toronto. He won his last start and the team has won in both of his starts.

Josh Donaldson, unfortunately, will not be available for Toronto on Monday.

Trends:

KC:

  • 0-5 in their last 5 games overall.

TOR:

  • 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.

The Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays will open a three-game series on Monday in Canada. First pitch is set for 7:07 P.M and will feature two left-handed pitchers starting on the hill.

Betting-wise, you’ve gotta roll with the Blue Jays here. They have a red-hot arm on the hill with Garcia, plus, they’ll also have their hometown fans behind them for support all series. Take the Jays in this one.
