Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
MLB Baseball: Tuesday, April 16th 2019 6:35 PM EST TIME
One of the greatest rivalries in the sport of baseball, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will meet up in the middle of April. Here is Game 1 of the important series.
Red Sox Notes
The Boston Red Sox might have won it all last season, but they are off the gates a bit slow. They have yet to win a series and now come into this game looking to win there first against one of their best friends. The Red Sox are locked and loaded especially for their starting pitcher on the mound Chris Sale. He comes into this game against the Yankees where he has one of the best ERA’s in Yankee Stadium with a 1.86.

As for the New York Yankees, they too have gotten off to a slow start as they have a 6-9 overall record on the season. Take out their three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles, and their wins have yet to turn heads so far this season. The Yankees come into this game with losing five of the past six games including getting swept by the Houston Astros. Can they turn the corner? The Yanks will be sending out James Paxton who is coming off a loss to the Astros, in which he allowed five runs and eight hits over four-plus innings.

- Luke Voit (R) 1B
- Clint Frazier (R) DH
- Brett Gardner (L) CF
- Gio Urshela (R) 3B
- Kyle Higashioka (R) C
- Mike Tauchman (L) LF
To make matters worse, Last week Paxton revealed he was tipping his pitches in Houston. However, to turn a negative into a positive, Paxton was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four starts vs. Boston as a member of the Mariners.
- Yankees are 1-4 in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
- Yankees are 1-4 in their last 5 home games.
- Red Sox are 4-0 in their last 4 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.
- Red Sox are 23-6 in their last 29 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Chris Sale is another person at Yankee Stadium and it will show once again on Tuesday. Given that the Red Sox are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings, I’m all over this line. Give me the Sox.
Prediction: RED SOX ML
Full-Game Total Pick
The total line is way too low for this game. We have James Paxton on the mound who was recently tipping his pitches. With that in mind, give me the Over as why wouldn’t it happen again? The Over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings as well as 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in New York.
