Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers
MLB: Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 8:05 PM EST
The Mariners recently snapped a three-game losing streak where their pitching really struggled. Seattle got off to a great start this season, but that is far in the past for the team that is under .500 and nearly 10 games out of first place. The club is one of the highest scoring teams in the Majors, but they do not rank in the top 25 in MLB in team ERA and in their recent three-game losing streak they gave up 36 runs.
After a five-game losing streak the Rangers got back on the horse and they have recently won four of five games. They are right with the Mariners in the AL West, but still well out of first place and the Houston Astros have a huge lead in the division as the only team in it with a winning record. Like Seattle, Texas has scored runs on the season, but only rank 28th in team ERA even though their pitching has been solid in the last few games.

While the Mariners are 5-2 in their last seven games facing the Rangers, they are only 1-4 in their last five games facing them in the Lone Star State.
The bats need to get it done
The Seattle lineup does not lack pop or firepower and they need to flex their offensive muscle with their lack of good pitching. The team has not named a starter for this game yet and the staff has had major issues keeping the ball in the park with three starters that have given up at least nine HR. The lineup has four players that have at least 12 HR and Domingo Santana is among the AL leaders in RBI. Santana is only batting .232 in the month of May and while Jay Bruce has 12 HR he is batting under .190.
While Seattle has recently been in a tailspin, losers of 15 of 20 games they have played a tough schedule in the last three weeks and have won eight of their last nine games facing a team with a losing record.
Like the last one Lance
Lance Lynn (5-3 4.14 ERA) gets the start for the Rangers in this division matchup and he looks to repeat his last start, which was a solid one. In his last outing, he only gave up one run on six hits in seven innings in a 16-1 blowout win over the Kansas City Royals. Texas has won three of his last four starts, which began going seven innings and only giving up one run in seven innings in a 14-1 road win over the Mariners. In Lynn’s previous two starts before his last one he gave up eight runs, but in the Rangers three wins in his last four starts they have given him 38 runs of support.

Texas does have a balanced lineup and Joey Gallo is among the AL leaders in HR and Elvis Andrus is batting over .320. Tuesday has not been kind to the Rangers, as they have lost 17 of their last 22 Tuesday games.
The Texas Rangers are:
- 4-1 in their last 5 overall
- 4-1 in their last 5 home games
- 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record
The Seattle Mariners are:
- 5-15 in their last 20 overall
- 0-4 in their last 4 road games
- 2-7 in their last 9 road games vs. a right-handed starter
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Have to go with the Rangers in this one, as they are playing pretty well as of late and Lynn is coming off a solid last start. Texas is 4-0 in his last four starts after a Quality Appearance in his previous outing and he pitched great in a recent start against the Mariners. Lynn will pitch well and like his last few starts get a lot of support from the lineup and Texas will take this home game and inch closer to the .500 mark.
Prediction: PICK: Rangers
Full-Game Total Pick
It is not rocket science picking the Over in this game. Lynn is coming off a solid outing and will have a good one, but he will get a lot of run support. He got 14 runs of support in a recent outing against the Mariners in a Texas win. In four of the last five games between these AL West rivals in Texas the total has gone Over and look for that trend to continue in this game.
Prediction: PICK: Over
