Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers
MLB Baseball: Wednesday, May 22nd 2019 2:05 PM EST TIME
The Seattle Mariners are ready to continue their AL West Clash as they stay in Texas to take on the Rangers once again. The Mariners fell to the Rangers in the opening game and they are looking to close up this series with a win.
About two weeks ago, the Seattle Mariners were a couple of games back of the Houston Astros and seemed to be one of the few teams in the AL West to compete with the Astros. However, since that, the Mariners have gotten cold and have fallen back all the way to last place in the standings as of Tuesday morning. The Mariners come into this game with losing eight of their past 11 games including getting swept by the New York Yankees and nearly the Minnesota Twins. During this losing trend, the Mariners are giving up 8.36 runs per game while only scoring 3.45 runs per game. Can the Mariners get back on track?

For the Mariners, they are hoping Marco Gonzales can get back on track as ever since he won his fifth game by shutting out the Rangers for 7 innings on 6 hits with 9 strikeouts on April 25, the 27-year-old lefty has gone 0-3 with a 5.94 ERA in four starts. Seems as if this is a pitcher I would stay away from.
As for the Texas Rangers, they have flipped the script on their schedule as they were near the bottom of the AL West a couple of weeks ago and now are the ones competing with the leading Houston Astros. The Rangers are 2nd in the division as of Tuesday with an overall record of 22-23 as they have taken down some tough teams as of late. The Rangers have won five of their past six games as they nearly swept both the Cardinals and Royals before this AL West clash. Can the Rangers keep their winning ways going?
- Shin-Soo Choo (L) LF
- Danny Santana (S) SS
- Nomar Mazara (L) RF
- Hunter Pence (R) DH
- Joey Gallo (L) CF
- Rougned Odor (L) 2B
- Asdrubal Cabrera (S) 3B
- Ronald Guzman (L) 1B
- Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) C
For the Rangers, they will be sending out Adrian Sampson who earned his first win by holding the Cardinals to two runs over 5 1/3 innings on Friday. He pitched one scoreless inning in his only outing this year against the Mariners.
- Rangers are 5-1 in their last 6 overall.
- Rangers are 5-1 in their last 6 games on grass.
- Rangers are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record.
- Mariners are 0-4 in Gonzales’ last 4 starts during game 3 of a series.
- Mariners are 0-4 in Gonzales’ last 4 starts.
- Mariners are 0-4 in Gonzales’ last 4 starts on grass.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Rangers are the hot team right now and there is no strong reason to fade them right now. Sampson is back to his winning ways as he should be able to keep the Mariners tame for a bit. The Mariners are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Texas.
Prediction: RANGERS ML
Full-Game Total Pick
Baseballs always fly in Texas and this series will be one to watch as balls will be leaving this park. The Over was a clear hit in Game 1 and I will not be surprised if it hits in every game this series. The Over is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings as well as 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Texas.
