Marlins take 2 of 3 from Padres
The Miami Marlins have a little bit of momentum heading into this series as they took 2 of 3 from the San Diego Padres. They closed out the three-game series Thursday with a 4-3 win over the Padres. They won it on a walk-off RBI double by Brian Anderson in the bottom of the ninth inning. Caleb Smith had a good start, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings, while Sergio Romo (2-0) got the win in relief. Neil Walker had 3 hits for Miami while Garrett Cooper, Anderson, and Cesar Puello had 2 hits each. The Marlins are 36-58 – not counting Friday night’s game.

Dodgers on cruise control
The Dodgers have the best record in baseball at 64-35 – not counting Friday night’s game. They have built a huge lead of 14 games in the NL West and they are pretty much on cruise control. After losing 4 straight just before and after the all-star break, they are back to their winning ways, winning 4 of their last 6. They did, however, drop their last game on Thursday to the Phillies 7-6. Ross Stripling gave up 3 runs in 5 innings but Dylan Florio (4-3) took the loss in relief. Kike Hernandez had a monster game going 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. Matt Beatty had 3 hits including a home run, while Justin Turner had 2 hits. Alex Verdugo added a home run and an RBI.

Full-Game Side Bet
Take the Dodgers here. The Dodgers are coming off an emotional series with the Phillies, which they split. This series will be one in which they take out their frustrations boiling over from that series. Kershaw has been excellent at home and he should have no problem shutting down the worst offensive team, in baseball. Look for the Dodgers to win big here.
Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -150
Full-Game Total Pick
I like the under here. I don’t expect the Marlins to do much against Kershaw. They have struggled to win on the road and against lefties and Kershaw is one of the best. Alcantara has been okay, but he has an ERA near 5 for a reason. The Dodgers will win easily but it will be in the under. The under is 3-0-1 in Dodgers last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Also, the under is 5-0-1 in the Marlins last 6 road games and 4-1 in Alcantaras last 5 road starts.
