Oakland Athletics vs. Minnesota Twins
Where and when: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Saturday, 7:10 pm EST
An all-important game three of a four-game set versus the Oakland Athletics and the Minnesota Twins will take place at Target Field on Saturday night at 7:10 pm EST. The Twins will certainly be looking to continue their recent momentum after picking up its first win in their last four outings with a 6-3 win in the opener on Thursday night. The win was only their third in the last eight meetings versus Oakland.
Thanks to Eddie Rosario’s pinch three-homer in the seventh inning, the Twins were able to halt a three-game losing streak while halting a five-game winning streak for the Athletics. Mitch Carver and C.J. Cron each hit homers for the Twins as well as the team obtained just nine runs for the contest. Oakland had eight hits, total, with Kris Davis along with Jurickson Profar each going 1-4 yet drove in three scores in the defeat.
A very durable Mike Fiers gave up three earned runs in over six innings in game one, yet did not factor into the decision while Yusmeiro Petit (2-2) took the loss as a result of Rosario’s homer. Kyle Gibson picked up his ninth win of the season for Minnesota in allowing three earned alongside several strikeouts in seven innings.
Berrios seeks to end drought
For game-three, Jose Berrios (8-5) will take the hill for the Twins looking for his first win since early June. In other words, since beginning the year with a record of 7-1, the right-hander’s last six starts have resulted in three losses alongside three no-decisions. Furthermore, the team has only picked up one win in his last six starts, overall. Unfortunately, facing Oakland may not lend to him getting back on track as he picked up a loss at Oakland Alameda on July 4th in allowing three earned and a homer in just five innings as a Marcus Semien grand-slam ended the Twins chances of a win.

Semien (.333 on 6 AB) along with Khris Davis (.375 on 8 AB) each have homers off Berrios with two RBI’s, Profar along with Matt Olson are a combined 1-15 versus the right-hander. It is important to mention that Berrios gave up five earned runs and a homer on the road to the Athletics on September of 2018 as, despite eight strikeouts, the right-hander went just over five innings in a 7-6 loss thanks to a walk-off by Davis. In his most recent matchup versus Oakland at Target Field, he suffered another loss after giving up three earned runs in 5 ⅔ innings in a 6-2 loss.
Anderson seeks to continue solid streak versus Twins
Brett Anderson (9-5) certainly pitched well in his last outing at home versus the Chicago White Sox; Yet he suffered the no-decision in the end as a ninth-inning throwing error sealed the 3-2 victory for Oakland. This halted a two-game winning streak for the 12-year veteran while the team halted a three-game winning streak with the right-hander on the mound. Nonetheless, Anderson has three straight quality outings in his last three starts while allowing only four earned runs during this time.

And while he has had decent, yet limited experience in facing this Twins lineup, Nelson Cruz tapped him for three homers along with seven RBI’s, lifetime, despite making contact on just three of twenty pitches. Marwin Gonzales along with Jorge Polanco has only nine at bats versus Anderson yet are batting .300 or better while having a combined five RBI’s.

Full-Game Side Bet
The Athletics have had some success versus the Twins in recent matchups. Also, add to the equation that Anderson has been solid lately, and that they may be getting the AL Central leaders at a great time after dropping three of their last four, look for the Athletics to put some runs on the board while relying on the consistency of Anderson to get a low-scoring win.
Prediction: Pick: Oakland Athletics
