The Texas Rangers will finish an interleague series on the road Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. The Rangers opened the series with a 9-2 loss to the Giants on Friday as the Rangers continue to struggle at the plate, producing just two runs. Texas will have Kolby Allard on the mound for the final game of the series.

San Francisco with the win on Friday won its second game in the last three and evened its record to 4-4. The Giants were led in the victory by Wilmer Flores who belted a three-run home run off Texas starter Mike Minor during the fifth inning. The Giants are in fourth place in the National League West and trail first-place San Diego by a pair of games.

Texas must find it's hitting stroke

The Texas Rangers have a team batting average of just .180. Joey Gallo has the best batting average of regulars for the Rangers at just .227. The Texas center fielder has a team-high two home runs and a team-high five RBIs. Starting second baseman Rougned Odor is hitting just .136, and Elvis Andrus, who is arguably the best overall player for Texas, is batting just .190.

If it weren't for the pitching staff the Rangers would have to have lost even more games than the six they already have. The Rangers team ERA is a solid 3.57. Through two starts and 12.0 innings pitched right-hander Lance Lynn has an ERA of 0.00. The Rangers only have two saves as a team, but much of that is due to the poor hitting by the Texas batting order and not leading late in games.

Giants hitters continue to produce

The San Francisco Giants have a team batting average of .257. Wilmer Flores is batting .300, while right-fielder Mike Yastremski is hitting .414 and Donovan Solano leads the team at .458 and has a team-high 10 RBIs. The batting order has kept the Giants in most of their games and it is the biggest reason they sit at .500 through eight games.

The Giants pitching staff is another story. San Francisco's team ERA is 5.07 and the starters have very high ERAs. Johnny Cueto’s ERA is 5.87, while Kevin Gausman has an ERA of 5.40. Logan Webb with a 2.35 ERA is the only Giants starter below 3.00. San Francisco’s WHIP sits at 1.51 and the pitchers have already walked 32 batters averaging 4.0 per game.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
