L.A. Dodgers (93-52, O/U 72-69) vs. San Francisco Giants (58-90, O/U 70-65)
MLB: Wednesday, September 13, 2017 AT&T Park, San Francisco, California 10:15 pm ET
Lines: Dodgers -210 / Giants +180
O/U: 7.5 runs
Well, it is finally over, as the Dodgers snapped their 11-game losing streak and clinched a playoff spot in the process. They still have the best record in the Majors and in their last win, they only allowed three runs after allowing eight runs in each of their previous two games. L.A. still has the best record in the Majors and they can take this division series with a win in this game. Yu Darvish gets the call in this series finale and he has not been sharp in his last two starts.
The Giants lost their 90th game in the Game 2 loss to the Dodgers and overall they have lost three of their last four games. They have one of the weakest lineups in the Majors and in their three losses in their last four games they have only totaled five runs. Matt Moore goes for San Fran in this game and looks for his 6th win of the season.
Banking on their Ace
The Dodgers beat the Giants 5-3 in the 2nd game of this series behind a pretty strong outing from Ace Clayton Kershaw. He went six innings and gave up two runs, one earned, on eight hits to notch his 17th win of the season. Chase Utley went deep and Yasiel Puig had two doubles and two RBI. L.A. is 41-29 on the road this season, but they have lost 21 of their last 29 games against the Giants in San Francisco.
Yu Darvish (8-12 4.25 ERA) gave up five earned runs in four innings in his last start, which was a 5-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies. He has given up 10 earned runs in his last two starts only lasting three innings and the Dodgers have lost his last three starts after winning his first three since the trade with the Texas Rangers. This game will be Darvish’s first career start against the Giants.
Giving up the big inning
In the Giants loss to the Dodgers in Game 2 of this series, they gave up four of the five runs to them in the 4th inning. The Giants banged out 14 hits, five more than the Dodgers, and Kelby Tomlinson hit his first HR of the season, but they left 11 men on base. Johnny Cueto took the loss only lasting three innings and giving up four earned runs. Buster Posey was 1 for 5 in the game and he is riding a 12-game hitting streak where he is 18 for 45 with seven RBI. This season San Francisco is 33-39 at home.
Matt Morre (5-13 5.31 ERA) gave up two earned runs in six innings in his last start, which was a 9-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. He pitched two scoreless innings in his previous appearance out of the bullpen and in his last start before that was tagged up for five earned runs in five innings in 6-3 loss to the San Diego Padres. This season against the Dodgers Moore is 0-1 with a 7.02 ERA in three starts and in his career facing them in eight starts he is 3-3 with an ERA of 5.36.
The L.A. Dodgers are:
- 58-27 in their last 85 overall
- 10-3 in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a losing home record
- 26-7 in their last 33 games vs. a left-handed starter
The San Francisco Giants are:
- 5-13 in their last 18 overall
- 6-17 in their last 23 vs. National League West
- 3-8 in their last 11 games vs. a right-handed starter
Darvish has struggled in his last three outings, but he will snap out of his slump in this game in his first ever start facing San Francisco. On the other side of the coin, Moore will not fare well and the Giants have only won three of his last 10 road starts. The Dodgers have the money off their backs of the long losing streak and they will win again in this game and take the series.
PICK: Dodgers -210
I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
